Creta Waiting Period
Typical across India: Diesel over 4 weeks; petrol varies by stock (HMIL, Oct 2026) (as of 26 Oct 2026)
HMIL MD Tarun Garg told Autocar Professional on 26 October 2026 that the diesel Creta still carries a waiting period of more than four weeks because of limited supplies. A supplier-side disruption slowed dispatches in June–July 2026. Petrol and Hyderabad-specific waits were not quoted; check with the dealer by variant and colour.

The Auto Grid Review
Hyundai Creta Review: Our Verdict
Nothing comes through the Auto Grid bay in Kondapur more often than the Creta, so this is the Hyundai we know best. The paint is consistently well laid and the clear coat is harder than most of its rivals, which means fewer dealer-buff holograms to correct before filming, though Titanium Black and Starry Night still show fine swirls under the inspection lamp. The long, flat bonnet and the big black-chrome grille take the brunt of ORR stone damage; the leading edge of the bonnet and the lower bumper are the panels we repair first, followed by the door edges that catch Hitech City car-park pillars. Owners overwhelmingly bring SX Premium and King trims, usually in Atlas White, with the diesel automatic and the turbo DCT making up a large share of the King cars. The matte Ecotronic Grey and Titanium Black Matte cars need a matte-specific film and must never be polished. The dual-tone roof and the roof rails are easy to film; the sequential indicator lenses and the sharp lightning-arch C-pillar garnish are the fiddly bits.
What we like
- +Three engines and four gearboxes cover every buyer
- +Hard clear coat and consistent panel gaps
- +Level 2 ADAS, Bose and ventilated seats on King trims
- +Strong resale and the widest service network in the segment
What we’d change
- –No Bharat NCAP result yet; the 2022 Global NCAP test was 3 stars
- –Diesel waiting period persists
- –Rear seat is tighter than the Seltos for three adults
- –Matte paint variants need specialist care
Is the Creta right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored
Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.
City Commuter
10–30 km a day through traffic
The 1.5 MPi IVT is the most relaxed combination for Madhapur stop-go traffic, and the 360° camera on SX Premium and above makes tight parking easy.
Highway Cruiser
ORR laps and expressway weekends
The diesel automatic and the turbo DCT both settle at 100–120 km/h with little noise; adaptive cruise on King trims makes the Vijayawada highway a one-pedal drive.
Family First
Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips
Six airbags, ISOFIX and a flat rear floor are standard; the panoramic sunroof and rear sunshade keep children happy, but there is no Bharat NCAP score yet.
Driving Enthusiast
Cares how it steers, not just how it looks
The 160 PS turbo DCT is quick in a straight line, but the soft suspension and light steering are tuned for comfort, not corners; the N Line is the keener car.
First-Car Buyer
Budget-conscious and resale-aware
The E and EX petrol manuals are honest cars, but the price walk to a well-equipped trim is steep and a first-time buyer may be better served by the Bayon or Venue.
Chauffeur-Driven Executive
Judged from the rear seat
Rear legroom, a reclining backrest, a sunshade and the rear-seat screen on the Lounge Edition make the Creta the default chauffeur-driven car at this price.
Weekend Explorer
Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads
Ground clearance and the traction modes handle Ananthagiri dirt tracks, but it is front-wheel drive only and the 17/18-inch road tyres are the limit.
Paint Protection
PPF for the Hyundai Creta: What We Install and Why
Where it takes damage
Bonnet leading edge, front bumper and the black-chrome grille surround chip first on ORR and airport-road runs; door edges and the rear bumper top ledge pick up car-park and luggage scuffs. Matte paints cannot be polished and mark easily.
Our recommendation
AG1 full-front with door-edge and sill strips for daily-driven SX and King cars; AG1 Square full body on Knight, Lounge and matte-finish cars where the paint is the point. We correct dealer swirls on dark colours before the film goes down and use a matte-finish film on Ecotronic Grey Matte and Titanium Black Matte.
Coverage
Full front standard; add lower doors, rear-wheel-arch guards and the boot-lip ledge for highway and family use, and full body for editions and matte colours.
