The Auto Grid Review

Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS Review: Our Verdict

3.8/ 5 · Auto Grid Editorial

The Grand i10 NIOS is one of the cheaper cars we film in Kondapur, and it usually comes in as a first car for a family member, a Sportz or Asta AMT in Atlas White or Typhoon Silver. The paint is thin by big-Hyundai standards and the clear coat is soft enough that a dealer-side buff leaves holograms on Titanium Black and Fiery Red, which we correct before filming. The front bumper is low and rounded and takes most of the chips; the bonnet is short so it suffers less than an SUV. Lower doors behind the front wheels and the rear bumper corners pick up car-park scrapes in Hitech City basements. The matte Titan Grey VIBE cars must not be polished. The panels are small and simple, so a full-front film is a quick job and the most cost-effective protection we do.

What we like

  • +Six airbags and 3-point belts standard on every variant
  • +Dual-cylinder CNG keeps the boot usable
  • +Light steering, tight turning circle and good visibility
  • +Low service costs and strong resale

What we’d change

  • –ESC is missing on Era, Magna and Corporate manual
  • –AMT is slow-witted
  • –No crash-test rating published
  • –Soft clear coat shows dealer-polish holograms

Is the Grand i10 NIOS right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored

Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.

City Commuter

10–30 km a day through traffic

Compact, light and easy to park, with a decent AMT and rear AC vents; one of the best small cars for Madhapur traffic.

Highway Cruiser

ORR laps and expressway weekends

It will hold 100 km/h, but the 83 PS engine, light body and road noise make long ORR runs tiring.

Family First

Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips

Six airbags and 3-point belts are standard, but ESC and ISOFIX are limited to higher trims and the rear seat is narrow.

Driving Enthusiast

Cares how it steers, not just how it looks

An honest, well-balanced small hatch with light controls, but there is no performance to speak of.

First-Car Buyer

Budget-conscious and resale-aware

Cheap to buy, insure, fuel and service, easy to drive, and the CNG version is one of the lowest-running-cost cars in Hyderabad.

Chauffeur-Driven Executive

Judged from the rear seat

A small hatchback; rear legroom is adequate for one adult but refinement, width and rear comfort features are not in the brief.

Weekend Explorer

Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads

Low ground clearance, a small boot and 15-inch road tyres limit it to tarmac day trips around Hyderabad.

Paint Protection

PPF for the Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS: What We Install and Why

Where it takes damage

Low rounded front bumper, lower doors behind the front wheels and the rear bumper corners; dealer-polish holograms on dark colours and a matte VIBE finish that cannot be corrected.

Our recommendation

AG1 full-front with lower-door strips for most NIOS buyers; AG1 Square full body only on the matte Titan Grey VIBE edition with a matte-finish film.

Coverage

Full front standard; add lower doors and rear bumper corners for basement-parked cars.
