The Auto Grid Review
Mahindra BE 6 SPORTEQ Review: Our Verdict
The BE 6 is the car that made our Kondapur team learn satin paint: a good share of the ones we see are in the satin finishes that Mahindra introduced with the SPORTEQ series, and satin cannot be polished, so any scratch is permanent unless the panel is protected on day one. On gloss cars, Mahindra's INGLO-era paint is noticeably harder than the ICE SUVs' and holograms are rare. The problem areas are the low nose with its wide lower intake, which collects stones on the ORR, the sharp aero sills, the deploying door handles and the gloss-black cladding around the arches, which scuffs in parking. The R19 and R20 wheels sit close to the arch lips and throw gravel at the rear quarter panels. Most owners here pick the THREE+ 79 kWh or the FOUR in Ruby Velvet or Firestorm Orange, and ask for the entire car because the satin finish and the coupé's compound curves are the reason they bought it.
What we like
- +5-star Bharat NCAP with a near-perfect adult score
- +Up to 708 km MIDC range and 20-minute 20–80% charging
- +Rear-wheel drive, 286 PS and adaptive dampers make it the driver's EV in its class
- +Software-defined with OTA updates and a lifetime battery warranty for first owners
What we’d change
- –Satin finishes cannot be polished if scratched
- –Coupé roofline costs rear headroom and the boot opening is shallow
- –Wall charger and installation are extra on every variant
- –Waits stretch past four months in some metros
Is the BE 6 right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored
Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.
City Commuter
10–30 km a day through traffic
A 10 m turning circle, single-pedal drive and auto park make it easy in Madhapur traffic, though the long doors and low roof need care in tight basements.
Highway Cruiser
ORR laps and expressway weekends
708 km MIDC, 20-minute fast charging, Level 2+ ADAS with lane centring and adaptive dampers make the 79 kWh packs genuine Bengaluru-and-back cars.
Family First
Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips
The safety score and the 455-litre boot are excellent, but the sloping roof pinches rear headroom and the dark cabin feels tight for three in the back.
Driving Enthusiast
Cares how it steers, not just how it looks
286 PS to the rear wheels, Race mode, brake-by-wire and intelligent adaptive suspension: nothing else in this price band drives like it.
First-Car Buyer
Budget-conscious and resale-aware
Too fast, too wide and too expensive to insure for most first-car buyers, and the BaaS schemes need careful reading.
Chauffeur-Driven Executive
Judged from the rear seat
Quiet and quick with an impressive cabin, but the coupé roof and the sports seats make the XEV 9e the better chauffeur car.
Weekend Explorer
Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads
207 mm clearance and Snow mode handle a wet ghat road, but the low nose, sills and road tyres rule out real trails.
Paint Protection
PPF for the Mahindra BE 6 SPORTEQ: What We Install and Why
Where it takes damage
Low nose and wide lower intake collect stones; sharp aero sills, flush door handles and gloss-black arch cladding scuff in parking, the rear quarters take gravel from the R19/R20 wheels, and satin paint cannot be polished once scratched.
Our recommendation
AG1 Square full body in a matte-compatible finish for every satin BE 6, because there is no repair path for satin paint; AG1 full-front with sill and arch-cladding strips for gloss cars on the ONE to THREE packs.
Coverage
Full body for satin and dark top packs; full front, sills and rear quarters for gloss lower packs.

Especially on the satin colours, which cannot be polished once scratched, and on the low nose, sills and arch cladding that scuff in daily use. We recommend a full-body AG1 Square install on satin cars and full front with sills on gloss cars; message Auto Grid on WhatsApp for a plan.
