The Auto Grid Review
Tata Harrier.ev Review: Our Verdict
The Harrier.ev is the heaviest car Tata sells and you can see it in the bay: the 19-inch tyres throw grit at the rear doors and the sills with real force, and the lower door paint on the first cars we filmed in late 2025 was already pitted at 5,000 km. The bonnet is the Harrier’s — wide, flat and chip-prone — but the EV adds a sealed nose panel in body colour that shows every mark. Paint is the Harrier’s medium-thickness clear coat, better than the Nexon, softer than the Sierra, and the Stealth matte edition cannot be polished at all. The owners we see are Empowered 75 and QWD buyers who use the car for Bengaluru runs and want the sills and the frunk lid included. It films well — large flat panels — but the wide body means a full-body job takes a full day.
What we like
- +Perfect 32/32 adult score at Bharat NCAP
- +627 km certified on the 75 kWh RWD
- +Genuine QWD with six terrain modes and off-road assist
- +Lifetime HV battery warranty for the first owner
What we’d change
- –Heavy — rear doors and sills pit early
- –Sealed nose panel shows chips
- –Wide body for city lanes
- –Stealth matte needs film before any wash
Is the Harrier.ev right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored
Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.
City Commuter
10–30 km a day through traffic
Silent and effortless, but 2.13 m wide with mirrors and heavy; the 540° camera earns its keep in basements.
Highway Cruiser
ORR laps and expressway weekends
627 km certified, Level 2 ADAS and a supremely planted ride; 250 km in a 15-minute fast charge keeps long trips simple.
Family First
Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips
The best crash score of any Tata, seven airbags, 502 L boot plus a frunk, and rear AC vents.
Driving Enthusiast
Cares how it steers, not just how it looks
504 Nm, 0–100 in 6.3 s and a multilink rear; it is quick and composed, though the weight is always present.
First-Car Buyer
Budget-conscious and resale-aware
Too big, too expensive and too heavy for a first car; running an SUV this size through Hyderabad traffic is a skill learned elsewhere.
Chauffeur-Driven Executive
Judged from the rear seat
Quiet cabin, powered Boss mode, ventilated seats and a purifier; the Safari’s captain seats are the only thing missing.
Weekend Explorer
Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads
The QWD with rock-crawl mode, off-road assist and V2L is the most capable Tata for Nallamala tracks and ghat roads.
Paint Protection
PPF for the Tata Harrier.ev: What We Install and Why
Where it takes damage
Flat bonnet and sealed nose panel chip; lower rear doors and sills pit from the heavy car’s tyre spray; 19-inch wheel-arch lips kerb; Stealth matte paint scratches permanently.
Our recommendation
AG1 Square full body including sills, lower doors and the frunk lid for Empowered and QWD cars; matte-compatible film for the Stealth edition; AG1 full front plus sills as the minimum for Adventure trims.
Coverage
Full body with sills recommended; full front plus sills and rear-door lower strips as the minimum.
