The Auto Grid Review
Hyundai Alcazar Review: Our Verdict
Alcazars reach the Kondapur bay as family cars first and status cars second: Signature and Signature Knight diesel automatics in Atlas White and Titanium Black, usually within a fortnight of delivery because owners know a car this long is hard to keep clean. The paint is the same even Chennai finish as the Creta and the clear coat corrects well, but there is a lot of it: the long rear doors and the tailgate get luggage and trolley scuffs, and the big silver skid plates and chrome door handles scratch rather than chip. On the highway the bonnet leading edge and the quad-beam headlamp housings take the stones, and on the 18-inch Signature cars the lower doors behind the front wheels collect tar. The black cladding and black roof rails are maintenance-free. The Knight's gloss-black grille and red calipers need care at every wash.
What we like
- +Ventilated captain seats and three-row AC make it a true family car
- +Level 2 ADAS, Bose and digital key on Signature
- +Diesel automatic with strong highway range
- +Five-seat Lounge Edition for executives
What we’d change
- –Third row is for children or short trips
- –No Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP rating published
- –Turbo-petrol is thirsty in traffic
- –Lots of chrome and gloss black to maintain
Is the Alcazar right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored
Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.
City Commuter
10–30 km a day through traffic
It is a long car for Jubilee Hills lanes, but the surround camera on Platinum and above and the DCT make it manageable.
Highway Cruiser
ORR laps and expressway weekends
The diesel AT with 250 Nm, adaptive cruise and a 2,760 mm wheelbase make it the most relaxed Hyundai for Vijayawada or Bengaluru runs.
Family First
Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips
Six airbags, ISOFIX, three-row AC, captain seats and seatback tables cover the school run and the road trip; only the pending crash rating counts against it.
Driving Enthusiast
Cares how it steers, not just how it looks
The 160 PS turbo DCT is brisk for a three-row car and the chassis is tidy, but it is tuned for comfort and the diesel is the better buy.
First-Car Buyer
Budget-conscious and resale-aware
A big first car with a big price; the Executive trims are honest but most first buyers will find the Creta or Bayon easier to live with.
Chauffeur-Driven Executive
Judged from the rear seat
Ventilated reclining captain seats, wing headrests, a rear screen on the Lounge Edition and a quiet diesel make it the executive's Hyundai.
Weekend Explorer
Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads
Hill descent control and traction modes help on Ananthagiri tracks, but it is front-wheel drive with a long rear overhang.
Paint Protection
PPF for the Hyundai Alcazar: What We Install and Why
Where it takes damage
Bonnet leading edge and headlamp housings on the highway; lower rear doors, tailgate and boot-lip from luggage and trolleys; chrome door handles, skid plates and the Knight's gloss-black grille scratch at the wash.
Our recommendation
AG1 full-front with lower-door, boot-lip and door-handle cups for family-driven Signature cars; AG1 Square full body on Knight and Lounge editions, with a matte-finish film on Titanium Black Matte.
Coverage
Full front standard; add lower doors, boot-lip ledge and handle cups for family use, and full body for editions.

Hyundai Alcazar: Questions Buyers Ask
Hyundai's Delhi list on 29 October 2026 runs from ₹14,50,700 for the 1.5 Turbo MT Executive 7-seater to ₹21,95,700 for the 1.5 CRDi AT Signature Lounge dual-tone, ex-showroom. Diesel starts at ₹15,49,800 and the turbo DCT at ₹18,08,300.
Both: Signature trims offer a 6-seater with second-row captain seats, every other trim is a 7-seater with a 60:40 bench, and the Lounge Edition is a 2-row 5-seater with a rear-seat entertainment screen.
The 116 PS diesel automatic suits a seven-seater better for highway economy and torque; the 160 PS turbo DCT is quicker and quieter in the city. Both get the same Signature equipment.
No Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP result has been published for the Alcazar as of 29 October 2026. Six airbags, ESC, all-disc brakes and ISOFIX are standard, with Level 2 ADAS from Platinum upwards.
A long three-row car collects scuffs on the rear doors, tailgate and boot-lip as much as chips on the bonnet, so we film the full front plus the loading edges as standard and the whole car on Knight and Lounge editions. Message Auto Grid on WhatsApp for a plan for your trim.
