The Auto Grid Review
Hyundai Creta Electric Review: Our Verdict
Creta Electrics come into the Kondapur bay in the same colours as petrol Cretas, Atlas White first and Titanium Black second, and almost all of them are Excellence LR cars, because EV buyers here want the range and the ADAS. The paint and panel fit are standard Creta, which is good, but there are EV-specific differences we plan the film around: the pixelated front grille is a textured plastic panel that cannot be filmed as one sheet, the active air flaps need the lower bumper edge trimmed cleanly, and the car is heavier, so it throws more road grit at the lower doors and rear arches. The aero alloys are flat-faced and scratch on kerbs. Owners park under charging-bay canopies that drip, so we see water-spotting on the roof and bonnet early. Matte and Knight cars arrive in the first week; the Lounge Edition's golden bronze is new to us.
What we like
- +510 km ARAI range and 39-minute DC charging on the long-range pack
- +Familiar Creta cabin with V2L, frunk and dual screens
- +Level 2 ADAS and digital key on Excellence LR
- +BaaS and assured buyback programmes reduce the upfront risk
What we’d change
- –No Bharat NCAP result yet
- –Heavier car throws more grit at lower panels
- –42 kWh range drops noticeably with AC in summer
- –Top trims cost as much as an Alcazar
Is the Creta Electric right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored
Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.
City Commuter
10–30 km a day through traffic
Silent, instant torque, one-pedal-style regen with paddles and a 360° camera on Excellence make it the best Creta for Hitech City traffic, with home charging covering a week of commutes.
Highway Cruiser
ORR laps and expressway weekends
The 51.4 kWh car does Hyderabad–Vijayawada with margin and charges 10–80% in 39 minutes on a 100 kW charger; adaptive cruise and lane following make it relaxing.
Family First
Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips
Six airbags, ISOFIX, a flat floor, a frunk and V2L for picnics; the pending Bharat NCAP result is the only gap in the brief.
Driving Enthusiast
Cares how it steers, not just how it looks
7.9 seconds to 100 km/h is quick, but the steering and suspension are tuned for comfort and the aero tyres are not sporting.
First-Car Buyer
Budget-conscious and resale-aware
The Executive 42 kWh is an easy car to drive, but the upfront cost and charging logistics make it a second car for most first-time buyers; BaaS helps.
Chauffeur-Driven Executive
Judged from the rear seat
Quiet, roomy, with a reclining rear seat, sunshade and the rear-seat screen on the Lounge Edition; the smoothest chauffeur-driven Creta.
Weekend Explorer
Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads
Hill descent control and 17-inch tyres manage gravel tracks, and V2L powers a campsite, but range anxiety starts beyond Srisailam.
Paint Protection
PPF for the Hyundai Creta Electric: What We Install and Why
Where it takes damage
Lower doors and rear arches take extra grit from the heavier EV, the bonnet edge and lower bumper around the active air flaps chip first, aero alloys kerb easily and charging-bay drips spot the roof and bonnet. Matte paint cannot be corrected.
Our recommendation
AG1 full-front with lower-door, arch and sill strips as the Creta Electric standard; AG1 Square full body on Knight, Lounge and Titanium Black Matte cars with a matte-finish film, and a hydrophobic top coat on the roof and bonnet for canopy-parked cars.
Coverage
Full front plus lower doors and arches standard; add the roof for charging-bay parking and full body for editions and matte paint.
