The Auto Grid Review
Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Review: Our Verdict
The e Vitara is still new to Kondapur but every one we have seen has been an Alpha 61 kWh, mostly in Land Breeze Green or Arctic White with the black roof, and every owner has asked for full coverage — EV buyers here protect the car on delivery week. NEXA paint on it is deep and the gaps are tight. The nose is a smooth, closed face with adaptive shutters rather than an open grille, so stones hit the bumper and the bonnet leading edge directly; the three-piece LED headlamp surrounds have exposed corners. The 18-inch aero wheels and slim arches mean the lower doors sand-blast on wet roads, and at 1815 kg kerb weight it throws more spray than a Grand Vitara. The ADAS radar and front camera are left uncovered, and the charge-port door on the flank gets cable scuffs — we film the surround. Big flat panels film cleanly; the closed nose is actually easier than a grille.
What we like
- +Up to 543 km certified range from the 61 kWh pack
- +5-star Bharat NCAP, seven airbags and Level 2 ADAS
- +Deep paint, tight gaps and a flat nose that films cleanly
- +Home charger and buyback plans bundled at launch
What we’d change
- –Heavy — lower doors and arches take more spray
- –Delta gets the smaller 49 kWh pack only
- –Early deliveries were capacity-constrained
Is the e Vitara right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored
Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.
City Commuter
10–30 km a day through traffic
Silent, one-pedal-easy and cheap per kilometre with home charging; the 360° camera and auto-hold make the size easy in Gachibowli traffic.
Highway Cruiser
ORR laps and expressway weekends
Adaptive cruise, a quiet cabin and 543 km certified range cover a Hyderabad–Vijayawada round trip; fast-charger coverage decides the longer runs.
Family First
Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips
Five-star Bharat NCAP, seven airbags, ISOFIX, a flat floor and rear vents make it one of the safest family cars Maruti sells.
Driving Enthusiast
Cares how it steers, not just how it looks
Instant torque and a low battery give it a planted feel, but it is tuned for comfort and the steering is light.
First-Car Buyer
Budget-conscious and resale-aware
An expensive, heavy first car; running costs are low but the purchase price and insurance are not.
Chauffeur-Driven Executive
Judged from the rear seat
Silent running, a flat floor and good rear legroom make it a credible chauffeured EV; the rear seat is a little low.
Weekend Explorer
Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads
Snow mode and good clearance handle broken roads, but it is front-wheel drive and range planning limits remote ghats.
Paint Protection
PPF for the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: What We Install and Why
Where it takes damage
Closed front face and bonnet leading edge take stones directly; exposed headlamp corners; lower doors and arches sand-blast under the weight; charge-port surround scuffs from cables.
Our recommendation
AG1 Square full body is what most e Vitara owners choose on delivery week; AG1 full-front with headlamps, lower-door strips and a charge-port surround as the minimum, with ADAS sensors left clear.
Coverage
Full body preferred; at minimum full front, headlamps, lower doors and the charge-port surround.
