The Auto Grid Review
Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella Review: Our Verdict
The Ebella is new enough that the ones reaching Kondapur are first-batch cars, mostly Artic White or Splendid Silver dual-tones from owners who already have a hybrid Toyota in the house. It shares its body with the Maruti e Vitara, and the paint is Maruti's Gujarat finish: even, medium thickness, with the Bluish Black roof applied as a separate pass that leaves a crisp seam at the A-pillar. The hammerhead nose carries the radar and camera behind a smooth panel, and the lower bumper is wide and low, so it is the first thing to meet ORR gravel. EV weight of 1,815 kg means the 18-inch wheels throw more debris at the rear arches and sills than a petrol Hyryder does. The flat flanks and the glass roof film cleanly; the dual-tone seam is where a careless install shows.
What we like

- +Assured buyback and Battery-as-a-Service options
What we’d change
- –Single grade and single battery size on sale
- –Front-wheel drive only; no AWD at launch
- –Sensor-heavy nose makes bumper repairs expensive
- –Waiting-period data still unavailable from dealers
Is the Urban Cruiser Ebella right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored
Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.
City Commuter
10–30 km a day through traffic
Silent, instant torque, one-pedal-style regen and a 360 camera make it an ideal Hitec City commuter; a 7.2 kW home wallbox refills it overnight.
Highway Cruiser
ORR laps and expressway weekends
Adaptive cruise and lane trace take the strain on the Bengaluru highway and 543 km certified range covers it, though real-world range at 110 km/h will be lower.
Family First
Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips
Seven airbags, ISOFIX and a sliding, reclining rear seat suit a family of four; the boot is usable with the floor set low.
Driving Enthusiast
Cares how it steers, not just how it looks
193 Nm from standstill is fun off the line, but the heavy kerb weight and comfort-tuned suspension blunt it in corners.
First-Car Buyer
Budget-conscious and resale-aware
Low running cost and Toyota's buyback scheme reduce the risk, but the ex-showroom price is a big first step and home charging is essential.
Chauffeur-Driven Executive
Judged from the rear seat
Quiet and smooth from the rear seat with rear vents and USB ports, but it is a mid-size SUV, not a limousine.
Weekend Explorer
Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads
Underbody protection and decent clearance handle village roads, but it is front-drive and charging stops limit ghat weekends.
Paint Protection
PPF for the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella: What We Install and Why
Where it takes damage
Low, wide front bumper and the smooth sensor panel in the hammerhead nose chip first; EV weight on 18-inch wheels sand-blasts the rear arches and sills; the dual-tone roof seam scratches at the A-pillar.
Our recommendation
AG1 full-front with precise cut-outs around the radar panel and camera so ADAS calibration is untouched, plus rear-arch and sill strips because of the extra weight; AG1 Square full body on dual-tone cars to protect the roof seam and the glass-roof surround.
Coverage
Full front plus rear arches and sills standard for EVs; full body for dual-tone and Opulent Red.

FAQs
Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella: Questions Buyers Ask
Toyota announced the E3 grade at ₹23,60,000 ex-showroom on 29 May 2026, and the official Delhi price list on 29 October 2026 shows the same figure; dual-tone colours with the Bluish Black roof add ₹20,000.
Toyota certifies 543 km (AIS 040 Rev.1, ARAI) for the 61 kWh LFP pack and quotes DC fast charging from 10 to 80% in 45 minutes; it is compatible with a 7.2 kW AC wallbox and CCS2 DC chargers.
The LFP battery pack is covered for 8 years or 2,00,000 km, whichever is first; the vehicle warranty is 3 years or 1,00,000 km. Toyota also offers assured buyback and Battery-as-a-Service schemes through dealers.
They share the dedicated electric platform, battery and motor, but Toyota's Ebella is sold only in the 61 kWh E3 grade with Toyota's own styling, i-Connect suite and BEV-trained service network.
Yes in our experience — an EV's extra weight throws more debris at the arches and sills, and the sensor-laden nose is costly to repaint, so we fit an AG1 full-front with careful ADAS cut-outs plus arch and sill strips, and full body on dual-tone cars. Message Auto Grid on WhatsApp for a plan.
Indicatively ₹24.24 lakh–₹24.59 lakh on-road in Hyderabad: ex-showroom ₹23.60 lakh (Delhi, 29 Oct 2026) plus Telangana life tax (0% (EV exemption)), first-year insurance and registration. EVs pay no road tax or registration fee in Telangana until 31 December 2026. Dealer quotes vary with insurance add-ons and accessories.
Urban Cruiser Ebella: Mid-size electric SUV, ₹23.60 lakh ex-showroom, Electric, Auto Grid rating 4.0/5. XUV 3XO EV: Sub-4m compact electric SUV, ₹13.89 lakh – ₹14.96 lakh ex-showroom, Electric, rated 4.0/5. See the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV page for its full variant list and our verdict.
