XEV 9S Waiting Period
Typical across India: 3–4 months; up to 8 months in Mumbai (as of 11 Sept 2026)
September 2026 dealer surveys; quickest in Chennai at just over two months. A February 2026 Times of India dealer survey quoted 3–4 months for Pack Three variants and 8–9 months for the Pack One Above 59 kWh, so the smaller-battery variants wait longest. Hyderabad was not listed separately.

The Auto Grid Review
Mahindra XEV 9S Review: Our Verdict
The XEV 9S arrived in Kondapur in February 2026 and has turned into a steady stream of Pack Three Above six-seaters, mostly Everest White, Desert Myst and Midnight Black, bought by families stepping out of an Innova or an XUV700. The INGLO paint is hard and we rarely find holograms, so our effort goes into the exposure points: a low front bumper with a wide intake that catches ORR stones, the deploying door handles on Pack Three, gloss-black cladding along the sills, and a long, flat tailgate whose lower edge takes gravel from the R18 wheels. Because it is a seven-seater, the rear bumper top and the loading lip get scuffed by luggage within the first month, and the sliding second row means the door sills see more foot traffic than the 9e. It is a big, mostly flat install with the usual tricky bits at the deploying handles and the sequential tail-lamp recesses.
What we like
- +Genuine seven seats with a usable third row and a 527-litre boot in a born-electric body
- +Up to 679 km MIDC range and 20-minute fast charging on three battery sizes
- +Ventilated first and second rows, Boss Mode and a lounge desk
- +Lifetime battery warranty for first private owners and OTA upgrades
What we’d change
- –No Bharat NCAP result published at the time of writing
- –Smaller-battery variants have had the longest waits, up to nine months
- –Charger included in list price but installation is extra
- –A 4.74 m, 10 m-turning-circle SUV is demanding in city parking
Is the XEV 9S right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored
Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.
City Commuter
10–30 km a day through traffic
Single-pedal drive, auto park and the 360-degree camera help, but it is a long, tall seven-seater for Ameerpet traffic and apartment ramps.
Highway Cruiser
ORR laps and expressway weekends
679 km MIDC, Level 2+ ADAS, adaptive suspension on every pack and a quiet, flat-floored cabin make it the family's Bengaluru-and-back EV.
Family First
Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips
Seven real seats, ISOFIX, up to seven airbags, a 527-litre boot and ventilated second-row seats; only the missing BNCAP result stops a perfect score.
Driving Enthusiast
Cares how it steers, not just how it looks
286 PS to the rear wheels is more than a seven-seater needs and Race mode is amusing, but it is set up for comfort.
First-Car Buyer
Budget-conscious and resale-aware
A 4.74-metre, thirty-lakh seven-seater with 286 PS is an unlikely first car; the size alone is intimidating for a new driver in Hyderabad traffic.
Chauffeur-Driven Executive
Judged from the rear seat
The six-seat Pack Three Above with powered captain seats, Boss Mode, a lounge desk, rear ventilation and sunshades is the best chauffeur-driven cabin in the Mahindra range.
Weekend Explorer
Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads
205 mm clearance, Camp mode and a frunk for muddy gear suit a resort weekend; the low nose and road tyres keep it off real trails.
Paint Protection
PPF for the Mahindra XEV 9S: What We Install and Why
Where it takes damage
Low front bumper and wide intake collect stones; deploying door handles and gloss-black sill cladding scuff, the tailgate lower edge and rear bumper top take gravel and luggage scrapes, and the sliding second row puts extra foot traffic on the door sills.
Our recommendation
AG1 Square full body for Pack Three and Three Above six-seaters, which are kept long and used daily; AG1 full-front with sill, rear-bumper-top and loading-lip strips for Pack One Above and Two Above.
Coverage
Full body for top packs; full front, sills, tailgate edge and loading lip for lower packs.

FAQs
Mahindra XEV 9S: Questions Buyers Ask
Mahindra's official FAQ, read on 29 October 2026, lists the XEV 9S from ₹21.40 lakh (Pack One Above 59 kWh, 7-seat) to ₹30.90 lakh (Pack Three Above 79 kWh, 6-seat) ex-showroom including the 11.2 kW charger. Launch pricing in November 2025 started at ₹19.95 lakh before the charger was bundled and the July 2026 revision.
Mahindra quotes 521 km for the 59 kWh, 600 km for the 70 kWh and 679 km for the 79 kWh battery on the MIDC P1+P2 cycle, and up to 500 km real-world city range on a single charge.
Both. Pack One Above is seven-seat only; Pack Two Above, Pack Three and Pack Three Above are offered as seven-seaters with a bench or six-seaters with second-row captain seats.
Bharat NCAP had not published an XEV 9S result at the time of writing. Its platform siblings, the XEV 9e and BE 6, both scored 5 stars with 32/32 and 31.97/32 for adult protection. The 9S carries six or seven airbags and Level 2 or 2+ ADAS depending on pack.
September 2026 dealer surveys quote three to four months typically and up to eight months in Mumbai, with Chennai quickest at just over two months. A February 2026 survey showed the Pack One Above 59 kWh waiting eight to nine months while Pack Three variants were at three to four.
A seven-seater that does school runs and highway trips picks up luggage scrapes on the loading lip, stone chips on the low nose and scuffs on the sills and handles, so we recommend at least a full-front AG1 install with sill and tailgate strips and a full body on the top packs. Message Auto Grid on WhatsApp for a plan.
