Range Rover Electric — launch, expected price & specs
JLR opened India bookings for the all-electric Range Rover on 2 September 2026 for a ₹10 lakh token, publishing full specs — a 118.5 kWh battery, up to 550 PS/850 Nm from twin motors, up to 600 km WLTP range and 350 kW DC fast charging — but India pricing hasn't been announced. The Auto Grid Review
Range Rover Electric Review: Our Verdict
We haven't had a Range Rover Electric through the Kondapur bay yet — nobody has, since India deliveries haven't started — so this is a forward-looking note rather than a hands-on verdict. What we do know from the ICE Range Rover is that the body is essentially identical, which means the same split tailgate, the same rear-overhang scrape risk and the same flush-handle paint wear we already see on every current Range Rover product should carry straight over. The one genuine unknown is the closed-off EV front grille and any underbody panelling added for the 118.5 kWh pack, which we'd want to inspect in person before committing to a protection plan. Given the ₹10 lakh booking token and an expected price north of ₹3.5 crore, whoever brings the first one in will be treated with the same full-body-first approach we already use on the V8 SV.
What we like
- +550 PS and 850 Nm from twin motors with a genuinely large 118.5 kWh battery
- +600 km WLTP range (535 km real-world claimed) is class-leading for a full-size luxury EV
- +350 kW DC charging adds 220 km in 10 minutes on a suitable charger
- +Shares cabin tech and build quality with the well-regarded ICE Range Rover
What we’d change
- –India ex-showroom price has not been announced, so total cost of ownership is still a guess
- –Fully imported CBU — no local-assembly price or waiting-time benefit like the ICE HSE/Autobiography enjoy
- –No India charging-infrastructure guidance published yet for owners outside major metros
- –The EV itself has not been separately crash-tested; only the mechanically related ICE car has a 2022 Euro NCAP rating
Is the Range Rover Electric right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored
Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.
City Commuter
10–30 km a day through traffic
Near-silent running and the same tight all-wheel-steering turning circle as the ICE car would suit city use well, but there's no India price yet to judge value against a daily commute.
Highway Cruiser
ORR laps and expressway weekends
A 535 km real-world range claim and 350 kW charging make long ORR and intercity runs genuinely practical, assuming fast chargers are available en route.
Family First
Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips
Shares the ICE Range Rover's cabin and safety architecture, so families already sold on that car's space and tech get the same here, minus a separately confirmed crash-test score for the EV itself.
Driving Enthusiast
Cares how it steers, not just how it looks
4.5-second 0-100 km/h is genuinely quick for a 2.5-tonne-plus SUV, but the ICE V8 SV still has the character and the noise that enthusiasts chasing drama will prefer.
First-Car Buyer
Budget-conscious and resale-aware
A ₹10 lakh booking token alone rules this out as a first car; expected pricing puts it well beyond that conversation.
Chauffeur-Driven Executive
Judged from the rear seat
Executive Class Comfort Plus rear seats, a near-silent cabin and the Body and Soul Seat on SV trims make this a serious chauffeur-driven proposition once India pricing lands.
Weekend Explorer
Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads
The platform's off-road hardware carries over, but battery weight and unproven India charging access off the highway make it a less obvious choice than the diesel for genuine weekend exploring.
Paint Protection
PPF for the Range Rover Electric: What We Install and Why
Where it takes damage
Expected to mirror the ICE Range Rover's known weak points — the rear overhang and split tailgate's lower panel at valet ramps, flush door-handle recesses, and the front bumper/bonnet on highway stone chips — plus the closed-off EV grille panel, which we haven't yet inspected in person.
Our recommendation
Once India cars arrive, our starting recommendation will be the same full-body AG1 coverage we already use on the V8 SV, given the comparable price point, with a first-look inspection of the EV-specific front panel before finalising a plan.
Coverage
Expected full body as standard, pending in-person inspection of the first India-spec car.

FAQs
Range Rover Electric: Questions Buyers Ask
JLR opened India bookings on 2 September 2026 for a ₹10 lakh token, but has not confirmed an official India launch date. Third-party aggregators such as CarWale list a tentative mid-2027 window; treat that as an estimate, not a confirmed date, until Range Rover India announces one.
Not yet announced. Autocar India estimates a starting price around ₹3.5 crore ex-showroom once launched, noting the EV won't benefit from India-UK FTA tariff concessions since those apply to ICE imports, not EVs. Overseas pricing starts at £154,070 in the UK and $138,000 in the US before taxes.
Range Rover claims up to 600 km on the WLTP cycle from the 118.5 kWh battery, with a stated real-world figure of 535 km. A 350 kW DC fast charger takes it from 10-80% in about 22 minutes, adding up to 220 km in a 10-minute top-up.
It shares the same MLA-Flex platform, body and cabin tech as the ICE Range Rover, swapping the engine for a 118.5 kWh battery and twin electric motors producing 550 PS and 850 Nm. It is sold alongside, not instead of, the existing diesel D350, petrol P400 and V8 SV Range Rover.
It's a Range Rover. Range Rover now operates as its own stand-alone marque within JLR, separate from the Land Rover name that still covers the Defender and Discovery family, and the Electric is marketed on rangerover.com/en-in alongside the existing diesel, petrol and hybrid Range Rover.
The mechanically related ICE Range Rover scored a 5-star Euro NCAP rating in 2022, and the EV shares its core body structure and safety systems, but the electric version itself has not yet been separately crash-tested as of this writing.
We expect the same panels that chip and scratch on the ICE Range Rover — the rear overhang, tailgate lower edge and door-handle recesses — to need it here too, plus the new EV-specific front panel we haven't yet inspected in person. Message Auto Grid on WhatsApp once your India delivery date is confirmed and we'll plan around the actual car.
