The Auto Grid Review
Honda Elevate Review: Our Verdict
The Elevate is still a less common sight in our bay than the Creta or the Kushaq, but the ones that come in tell a consistent story. Honda's mesh grille and the tri-bar LED signature up front are magnets for stone chips on the ORR, and the facelift's bigger front bumper has more surface area to protect than the outgoing car's. The 220 mm ground clearance means owners use it on Shamshabad's rougher back roads more than a typical city SUV, so the lower doors and rear wheel arches pick up sand-blasting that a Creta owner rarely brings us. The ZX+'s dual-tone Black roof option shows panel-gap paint thinness at the C-pillar join that we flag during intake. It is an easy car to film given its flat doors and simple creases, and the facelift's bigger screen hasn't changed any of the panels that actually need protecting.
What we like
- +Genuine 220 mm ground clearance, more usable off the beaten path than most rivals
- +Honda SENSING ADAS with Low-Speed Follow from the ZX grade
- +Spacious, well-finished cabin with the segment's roomiest front seats
- +Mechanically unchanged, well-proven 1.5L engine and CVT
What we’d change
- –Still not crash-tested by Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP as of October 2026
- –No diesel, hybrid or AWD option against SUV rivals that offer them
- –Facelift pricing jumped as much as ₹1.5 lakh on some trims
- –Petrol-only line-up trails the Hyryder and Grand Vitara's strong-hybrid efficiency
Is the Elevate right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored
Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.
City Commuter
10–30 km a day through traffic
The CVT and a tight turning circle make it easy around Hyderabad traffic, and the high seating position helps visibility at busy Kondapur junctions.
Highway Cruiser
ORR laps and expressway weekends
Stable at expressway speeds with a comfortable ride, though the naturally aspirated petrol works harder for overtaking than a turbo-petrol Kushaq.
Family First
Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips
Six airbags and a roomy cabin are reassuring, but the lack of any Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP score as of October 2026 is a real gap families should weigh against the Creta.
Driving Enthusiast
Cares how it steers, not just how it looks
A comfort-tuned chassis and a CVT-first lineup leave little for a driver chasing engagement; this is not the SUV for a keen corner-carver.
First-Car Buyer
Budget-conscious and resale-aware
Easy to drive and well-built, but the facelift's price hikes push it past what most genuine first-time SUV buyers want to spend.
Chauffeur-Driven Executive
Judged from the rear seat
Rear seat space and ride comfort are solid for the segment, though it sits a notch below the Creta and Seltos for outright rear-seat polish.
Weekend Explorer
Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads
220 mm of ground clearance and a genuinely usable boot make it one of the better front-wheel-drive picks for Telangana's monsoon back roads.
Paint Protection
PPF for the Honda Elevate: What We Install and Why
Where it takes damage
The mesh grille and tri-bar LED signature collect stone chips fast on the ORR; the facelift's bigger front bumper needs more coverage than the outgoing car, and the lower doors and rear wheel arches sand-blast on owners who actually use the 220 mm clearance off the beaten path.
Our recommendation
AG1 full-front film with lower-door and rear-wheel-arch guards for anyone who drives it on Telangana's rougher back roads; the ZX+'s dual-tone roof is worth a C-pillar edge wrap given the thinner paint at that join.
Coverage
Full front standard; add rocker panels and wheel-arch guards for weekend-explorer owners, and a roof-edge strip for dual-tone ZX+ cars.

FAQs
Honda Elevate: Questions Buyers Ask
Honda's 6 October 2026 facelift press release lists the Elevate from ₹11.80 lakh (SV MT) to ₹18.40 lakh (ZX+ Black CVT) ex-showroom Delhi, current on hondacarindia.com as of 29 October 2026.
Honda's own Elevate brochure lists 220 mm of ground clearance, among the highest in the mid-size SUV segment.
As of October 2026 the Elevate has not been independently tested by Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP (confirmed via Autocar India's Honda safety table). It carries 6 airbags and Honda SENSING ADAS from the ZX grade as standard safety equipment.
The 1.5L i-VTEC petrol is ARAI-rated at 15.31 kmpl with the 6-speed manual and 16.92 kmpl with the CVT, as certified under CMVR Rule 115 and published in Honda's official brochure.
The Creta and Seltos offer turbo-petrol and diesel options the Elevate lacks, but the Elevate counters with a genuine 220 mm ground clearance and Honda SENSING ADAS from the ZX grade. Choose the Creta or Seltos for engine choice, the Elevate for ground clearance and cabin space.
The Hyryder's strong-hybrid variant claims over 21 kmpl against the Elevate's naturally-aspirated petrol at 15.31–16.92 kmpl, making the Hyryder the clear pick for buyers prioritising fuel efficiency.
Yes — Honda's official Elevate brochure confirms the 1.5L i-VTEC petrol is compliant with E20 (20% ethanol-blended) petrol.
Its mesh grille and front bumper take the most stone-chip damage, and owners who use the 220 mm clearance off paved roads sand-blast the lower doors, so we recommend a full-front AG1 film with lower-door guards. Message Auto Grid on WhatsApp for an Elevate-specific plan.
Indicatively ₹14.17 lakh–₹22.51 lakh on-road in Hyderabad: ex-showroom ₹11.80 lakh–₹18.40 lakh (Delhi, 29 Oct 2026) plus Telangana life tax (17%–18%), first-year insurance and registration. Dealer quotes vary with insurance add-ons and accessories.
The top variant is the ZX+ Black CVT (Petrol, CVT) at ₹18.40 lakh ex-showroom Delhi; the base model is the SV MT (Petrol, 6-speed MT) at ₹11.80 lakh. 11 variants in all, as of 29 Oct 2026.
