The Auto Grid Review
Škoda Kushaq Review: Our Verdict
The Kushaq is one of the steadier European cars through our bay, and its MQB-A0-IN cousin to the Slavia shows the same strengths and the same weak points under our lamps. The front bumper and the lower grille take the first chips on Hyderabad's highways, and the Lava Blue and Deep Black cars show dealer-polish swirls faster than the Candy White. The Monte Carlo's red brake callipers and gloss-black trim need careful masking during any correction work, something we flag at intake since a careless buff can dull the red paint. Owners who opt for the 1.5 TSI DSG tend to drive it harder, and we see more front-splitter kerb contact on those cars than on the 1.0 TSI base trims. It's an easy car to film given Škoda's simple, flat body sides, and the European paint holds up well once protected.
What we like
- +5-star Global NCAP rating carried forward on the facelift
- +Segment-first 8-speed torque-converter automatic on the 1.0 TSI
- +Genuinely strong turbo-petrol performance from both engines
- +Rear-seat massager and panoramic sunroof are rare at this price
What we’d change
- –October 2026 price hike pushed the range past ₹19 lakh for the first time
- –No current, dated waiting-period figure found past mid-2025
- –1.5 TSI is DSG-only, with no manual for enthusiasts who want one
- –Boot space trails the segment's larger-SUV rivals
Is the Kushaq right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored
Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.
City Commuter
10–30 km a day through traffic
The 8-speed torque-converter automatic is smoother in stop-go traffic than a dual-clutch unit, and the 1.0 TSI has enough low-end torque for easy city driving.
Highway Cruiser
ORR laps and expressway weekends
European-tuned suspension and the 1.5 TSI's 250 Nm make it one of the most composed highway cruisers in its class, with genuine stability at expressway speeds.
Family First
Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips
A 5-star Global NCAP rating and 6 standard airbags make it a safe pick, though the boot is smaller than some 7-seat-flavoured rivals.
Driving Enthusiast
Cares how it steers, not just how it looks
The 1.5 TSI DSG combination is genuinely quick and the chassis rewards a committed driver more than most SUVs in this price bracket.
First-Car Buyer
Budget-conscious and resale-aware
A solid, safe choice but European parts and service costs run higher than a Creta or Seltos for a budget-conscious first-time buyer.
Chauffeur-Driven Executive
Judged from the rear seat
The rear-seat massager on Prestige and above is a genuine executive touch, though outright rear legroom is average for the segment.
Weekend Explorer
Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads
155 mm ground clearance and FWD-only layout mean it manages broken roads reasonably but isn't built for serious off-tarmac use.
Paint Protection
PPF for the Škoda Kushaq: What We Install and Why
Where it takes damage
The front bumper and lower grille take the first stone chips on highway stretches; dealer-polish swirls show fastest on Lava Blue and Deep Black cars, and the Monte Carlo's red brake callipers and gloss-black trim need careful masking during any correction work.
Our recommendation
AG1 full-front film with sill strips for daily commuters; AG1 Square full body for Monte Carlo and Prestige owners who want the European paint protected end to end, with careful masking around the red-calliper brakes.
Coverage
Full front standard; add front-splitter protection for 1.5 TSI DSG owners who drive it harder, and door-sill guards for city use.

FAQs
Škoda Kushaq: Questions Buyers Ask
Following Škoda's October 2026 price revision, the Kushaq ranges from ₹10.69 lakh (Classic+ 1.0 TSI MT) to ₹19.19 lakh (Monte Carlo 1.5 TSI DSG) ex-showroom, as confirmed by Škoda's official model page and dated price-hike reports from CarWale and Cars24.
The official brochure lists ARAI figures of 19.66 kmpl (1.0 TSI MT), 19.09 kmpl (1.0 TSI AT) and 18.72 kmpl (1.5 TSI DSG).
Yes. The original Kushaq scored 5 stars for adult and child occupant protection under Global NCAP's updated 2022 protocol (29.64/34 adult, 42/49 child); Škoda states the facelift carries this rating forward, though it has not been independently re-tested.
Signature 1.0 TSI AT is the value sweet spot with the automatic gearbox and the bigger touchscreen; step up to Prestige 1.5 TSI DSG only if the rear-seat massager and extra power justify the roughly ₹4 lakh premium.
The Kylaq is Škoda's sub-4m SUV at a lower starting price and with a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating; the Kushaq is a size class larger with a more powerful 1.5 TSI option and a 5-star Global NCAP rating. Choose the Kylaq for budget and city use, the Kushaq for size and highway refinement.
Yes — it combines a 5-star Global NCAP rating, genuinely strong turbo-petrol engines and segment-first features like the 8-speed torque-converter automatic and rear-seat massager, though service costs run higher than mainstream rivals like the Creta.
The Kushaq's 5-star Global NCAP rating (under the 2022 updated protocol) is independently verified; the Creta's Bharat NCAP score varies by generation, so buyers should check the specific model year's rating before comparing directly.
Its front bumper and lower grille take the most stone-chip damage on Hyderabad highways, so a full-front AG1 film is our standard recommendation, with a full body wrap for Monte Carlo and Prestige owners. Message Auto Grid on WhatsApp for a Kushaq-specific plan.
Indicatively ₹12.84 lakh–₹23.47 lakh on-road in Hyderabad: ex-showroom ₹10.69 lakh–₹19.19 lakh (Delhi, 29 Oct 2026) plus Telangana life tax (17%–18%), first-year insurance and registration. Dealer quotes vary with insurance add-ons and accessories.
The top variant is the Monte Carlo 1.5 TSI DSG (Petrol, 7-speed DSG) at ₹19.19 lakh ex-showroom Delhi; the base model is the Classic+ 1.0 TSI MT (Petrol, 6-speed MT) at ₹10.69 lakh. 12 variants in all, as of 29 Oct 2026.
