The Auto Grid Review
Škoda Octavia RS Review: Our Verdict
We have not had an Octavia RS through our Kondapur bay yet — only 150 units exist in the whole country between both batches — but we've spoken with two owners who came in asking about protection before deciding where to buy. Based on the standard Octavia RS's panels and the Full LED Matrix headlight housing with its sharp Crystallinium detailing, we'd expect the front bumper and the sports exhaust's twin-tailpipe surround to be the first points of wear on any car driven the way an RS invites. The 19-inch alloys with low-profile 225/40 tyres will be a kerb-rash risk on Hyderabad's uneven service roads. Given the rarity and the import price, every owner we've spoken to is planning full-body coverage before the first drive, not after the first chip — the only sensible approach for a car this scarce.
What we like
- +265 PS and a genuine 6.4-second 0-100 kmph time, rare for a sedan sold in India
- +Fully-loaded single-variant simplicity with no trim decisions to make
- +Distinctive, driver-focused interior with real sports seats and a Head-Up Display
- +Extremely low production numbers make it a genuine rarity on Indian roads
What we’d change
- –Not independently crash-tested for the Indian market by Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP
- –No ARAI-certified mileage figure published for the India-spec car
- –Capped CBU batches mean it is nearly impossible to simply walk in and order one
- –Service and parts, like any CBU import, run well above a locally-assembled Škoda
Is the Octavia RS right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored
Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.
City Commuter
10–30 km a day through traffic
Capable in traffic but this is a car bought for its character, not for the daily commute, and low-profile tyres aren't ideal for Hyderabad's potholed inner roads.
Highway Cruiser
ORR laps and expressway weekends
265 PS, a genuine sports chassis and an electronically limited 250 kmph top speed make it one of the most capable highway cars sold in India at any price.
Family First
Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips
Five seats and a 600-litre boot are practical enough, but the lack of an India-specific crash-test score makes this a harder sell for a family-first buyer.
Driving Enthusiast
Cares how it steers, not just how it looks
This is precisely the car for a driving enthusiast — a proper turbocharged performance sedan with sports seats, paddle shifters and genuine chassis sharpness.
First-Car Buyer
Budget-conscious and resale-aware
At over ₹56 lakh for a low-volume import, this is nowhere near a first-car proposition.
Chauffeur-Driven Executive
Judged from the rear seat
Comfortable enough for a quick executive commute, but most buyers choose the RS to drive it themselves, not to be driven in it.
Weekend Explorer
Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads
Low ground clearance and performance-biased tyres make this strictly a tarmac car, not one for weekend trips off the highway.
Paint Protection
PPF for the Škoda Octavia RS: What We Install and Why
Where it takes damage
The front bumper and the sports exhaust's twin-tailpipe surround are the first points of wear on a car driven the way an RS invites; the 19-inch alloys with low-profile tyres are a real kerb-rash risk on Hyderabad's uneven service roads.
Our recommendation
AG1 Square full body before the first drive, not after the first chip — the rarity and import price make this an easy call for every owner we've spoken to.
Coverage
Full body standard; alloy-rim film given the low-profile tyres, and an exhaust-surround-specific cut around the twin tailpipes.
Škoda Octavia RS vs Camry
Cross-shopped against: Toyota Camry, BMW 3 Series, Audi A4, Volkswagen Golf GTI.

Škoda's official specifications list a 0–100 kmph time of 6.4 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph from the 265 PS 2.0 TSI engine.

At roughly ₹56.69 lakh, the Octavia RS undercuts the entry-level BMW 3 Series and Audi A4 by several lakh while offering comparable 2.0-litre turbo-petrol performance, though it trails them on badge prestige and dealer network size in India. The Volkswagen Golf GTI and Golf R it is sometimes compared to are not officially sold in India.
Given its rarity and import price, we recommend a full-body AG1 wrap before the first drive — the front bumper and exhaust surround are the panels most exposed to everyday wear. Message Auto Grid on WhatsApp for an Octavia RS-specific plan.
Indicatively ₹68.37 lakh–₹70.92 lakh on-road in Hyderabad: ex-showroom ₹56.69 lakh (India, 29 Oct 2026) plus Telangana life tax (18%–21%), first-year insurance and registration. Dealer quotes vary with insurance add-ons and accessories.
