The Auto Grid Review
Škoda Slavia Review: Our Verdict
The Slavia is the sedan twin of the Kushaq in our bay, and it shows the same European habits under our lamps — a firm clear coat that resists everyday swirling better than most Japanese-brand sedans, but a front bumper and bonnet lip that take real stone-chip damage on the ORR given the car's slightly longer overhangs. The facelift's new LED fog-lamp housings are a fiddly spot to mask during correction, and we've already seen two Monte Carlo cars with red-calliper overspray from a dealer-side wash that wasn't careful enough — exactly the kind of thing a proper film job prevents. Prestige and Monte Carlo owners tend to be enthusiasts who ask for full-body coverage from day one rather than waiting for the first chip, which makes the Slavia one of the more satisfying sedans for us to work on.
What we like
- +5-star Global NCAP rating and a genuinely strong body structure
- +New 8-speed torque-converter automatic is smoother than the old 6-speed unit
- +Rear-seat massager and a 521-litre boot are rare in this price band
- +Firm, European-tuned ride that holds its composure on bad roads
What we’d change
- –No current, dated waiting-period figure available just after the facelift launch
- –1.5 TSI is DSG-only, with no manual option for enthusiasts
- –Rear headroom is tighter than in the Verna or City for taller passengers
- –Service network is smaller than Honda's or Hyundai's across Telangana
Is the Slavia right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored
Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.
City Commuter
10–30 km a day through traffic
The 1.0 TSI's low-end torque and the new 8-speed automatic make it an easy, relaxed commute through Hyderabad traffic.
Highway Cruiser
ORR laps and expressway weekends
The firm European suspension and 250 Nm from the 1.5 TSI make it one of the most settled sedans at expressway speeds in its class.
Family First
Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips
A 5-star Global NCAP rating and a genuinely large 521-litre boot make it a strong, safe family-sedan pick.
Driving Enthusiast
Cares how it steers, not just how it looks
The 1.5 TSI DSG is quick and the chassis balance rewards committed driving more than most sedans in this bracket.
First-Car Buyer
Budget-conscious and resale-aware
Safe and well-built, but European parts pricing and a smaller service network make it a pricier ownership proposition than a Verna for a first-time buyer.
Chauffeur-Driven Executive
Judged from the rear seat
The rear-seat massager on Prestige and above and the firm, quiet ride make it a genuinely pleasant car to be driven in.
Weekend Explorer
Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads
145 mm ground clearance and a sedan body mean this is a highway car, not one built for rough or unpaved roads.
Paint Protection
PPF for the Škoda Slavia: What We Install and Why
Where it takes damage
The front bumper and bonnet lip take the most stone-chip damage given the Slavia's longer overhangs; the facelift's new LED fog-lamp housings are a fiddly mask point during correction, and Monte Carlo's red brake callipers need protecting from overspray during any wash or polish.
Our recommendation
AG1 full-front film with a sill strip as the baseline; AG1 Square full body for Prestige and Monte Carlo owners, who in our experience ask for complete coverage from day one rather than after the first chip.
Coverage
Full front and fog-lamp surrounds standard; add door sills for daily commuters and a brake-calliper mask-and-protect step for Monte Carlo cars.

FAQs
Škoda Slavia: Questions Buyers Ask
Škoda's official 6 October 2026 launch price list runs from ₹9.99 lakh (Classic 1.0 TSI MT) to ₹18.84 lakh (Monte Carlo 1.5 TSI DSG) ex-showroom, already reflecting the company's October 2026 portfolio price revision.
The official brochure lists ARAI figures of 19.76 kmpl (1.0 TSI MT), 19.50 kmpl (1.0 TSI AT) and 18.79 kmpl (1.5 TSI DSG).
Yes. The pre-facelift Slavia scored 5 stars for adult and child occupant protection under Global NCAP's updated 2023 protocol (29.71/34 adult, 42/49 child). Škoda states the facelift carries this rating forward, though it has not been independently re-tested.
The facelift only launched on 6 October 2026, so no reliable, dated city-wise waiting-period survey exists yet; expect it to depend on variant, colour and dealer stock in the first months after launch.
The Slavia and Virtus share the same MQB-A0-IN platform, engines and gearboxes, so the choice usually comes down to styling and dealer proximity — the Slavia leans towards a sportier Monte Carlo option, while the Virtus offers its own distinct trim line-up.
Yes — a 5-star Global NCAP rating, a 521-litre boot and genuinely strong turbo-petrol engines make it one of the more complete mid-size sedans in India, though its service network is smaller than Honda's or Hyundai's.
The City offers a strong-hybrid e:HEV option the Slavia lacks, while the Slavia counters with a 5-star Global NCAP rating, a bigger 521-litre boot and sharper European ride dynamics. Choose the City for hybrid efficiency, the Slavia for boot space and handling.
No. The Slavia is offered only with 1.0 TSI and 1.5 TSI turbo-petrol engines in India; Škoda does not offer a diesel option on this model.
Its front bumper and bonnet take the most stone-chip damage on Hyderabad highways, so a full-front AG1 film is our standard recommendation, with full-body coverage for Prestige and Monte Carlo owners. Message Auto Grid on WhatsApp for a Slavia-specific plan.
Indicatively ₹11.71 lakh–₹23.04 lakh on-road in Hyderabad: ex-showroom ₹10.00 lakh–₹18.84 lakh (Delhi, 29 Oct 2026) plus Telangana life tax (14%), first-year insurance and registration. Dealer quotes vary with insurance add-ons and accessories.
The top variant is the Monte Carlo 1.5 TSI DSG (Petrol, 7-speed DSG) at ₹18.84 lakh ex-showroom Delhi; the base model is the Classic 1.0 TSI MT (Petrol, 6-speed MT) at ₹10.00 lakh. 12 variants in all, as of 29 Oct 2026.
Slavia: Mid-size sedan (C-segment), ₹10.00 lakh – ₹18.84 lakh ex-showroom, Petrol, Auto Grid rating 4.1/5. Verna: Midsize sedan (4.57 m), ₹10.99 lakh – ₹18.46 lakh ex-showroom, Petrol, rated 4.3/5. See the Hyundai Verna page for its full variant list and our verdict.
Ground clearance 145 mm, boot space 521 litres, 5 seats, length 4552 mm (Škoda official specification).
