The Auto Grid Review
Citroën C5 Aircross Review: Our Verdict
The C5 Aircross is the rarest Citroën we see at the Kondapur bay — most owners already run a second, more mainstream car and bring this one in specifically for a full-body film because they know how limited Citroën's service and parts network still is outside the metros. The panoramic sunroof surround and the acoustic-glass windshield are expensive to replace if chipped, so we treat the glass edges and A-pillar with extra care during film. The flat bonnet and simple body-side moulding film cleanly, but the single-trim range means every customer is protecting the same fully-loaded car, so we rarely see a stripped-down version come through.
What we like
- +177 PS diesel with a genuine 8-speed torque-converter automatic
- +Panoramic sunroof, blind-spot monitoring and an acoustic windshield as standard
- +Air Quality System and The Cocoon Effect cabin insulation are genuine comfort differentiators
- +Only one trim to choose, which simplifies the buying decision
What we’d change
- –Single variant means no lower-cost entry point into the model
- –No Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP result published for the India-spec car
- –Citroën's dealer and service network is thin outside major metros
- –No official length, width, height or ground clearance figures published for India
Is the C5 Aircross right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored
Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.
City Commuter
10–30 km a day through traffic
A 37-lakh diesel SUV is overkill for pure city commuting, where its size and turning circle work against it in dense traffic.
Highway Cruiser
ORR laps and expressway weekends
The 177 PS diesel, 400 Nm torque and acoustic windshield make it a genuinely quiet, composed expressway cruiser for long Hyderabad–Vizag runs.
Family First
Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips
6 airbags and a spacious, quiet cabin work well for families, though the lack of a published India crash-test score is a gap at this price point.
Driving Enthusiast
Cares how it steers, not just how it looks
The diesel's torque is strong in a straight line, but this is a comfort-focused SUV rather than a car tuned for driver engagement.
First-Car Buyer
Budget-conscious and resale-aware
At ₹37+ lakh with a thin service network, this isn't a sensible first car for most buyers.
Chauffeur-Driven Executive
Judged from the rear seat
The Cocoon Effect cabin insulation, panoramic sunroof and rear AC vents make it a genuinely comfortable rear-seat experience for a chauffeur-driven executive.
Weekend Explorer
Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads
It's front-wheel drive with road-biased tyres and no published ground clearance figure, so it's built for good roads rather than weekend trails.
Paint Protection
PPF for the Citroën C5 Aircross: What We Install and Why
Where it takes damage
The panoramic sunroof surround and acoustic-glass windshield edges are costly to replace if chipped, and the flat bonnet and body-side moulding are the first panels to pick up stone damage on highway runs this SUV is built for.
Our recommendation
AG1 Square full-body film for C5 Aircross owners, since this is a single fully-loaded trim and buyers consistently protect the whole car rather than a partial package; extra care around the sunroof surround and windshield edge during install.
Coverage
Full body standard, with particular attention to the sunroof surround and windshield edge.
