The Auto Grid Review
Citroën C3X Review: Our Verdict
The C3X is the cheapest car we see at the Kondapur bay with a Citroën badge, and it shows in how buyers treat it — mostly first owners who skip paint protection on the base Live and Live(O) trims and regret it within a year. The low front bumper apron picks up kerb scrapes fast in Hyderabad's tight signal queues, and the glossy-black roof rails on Shine trims swirl easily during dealer prep. Paint thickness on the lower doors is on the thinner side for the segment, so stone chips on the ORR show through to primer sooner than on a Maruti or Hyundai at the same price. It is an easy car to film — flat panels, simple character lines — and ownership cost is the main reason owners choose a partial package over a full one.
What we like
- +Cheapest entry point into Citroën's India range
- +Genuine turbo-petrol performance from the Feel trim up
- +26 cm touchscreen and 360° camera undercut rivals at the price
- +Factory CNG option for city commuters
What we’d change
- –No Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP test published for the India-spec car as of October 2026
- –Thin resale network compared to Maruti, Hyundai or Tata
- –Base Live/Live(O) trims get only 2 airbags
- –Ground clearance not officially published
Is the C3X right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored
Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.
City Commuter
10–30 km a day through traffic
The 82 PS NA petrol and CNG option make it a cheap daily driver, and the 26 cm touchscreen from Live(O) up covers most commuter needs without a big spend.
Highway Cruiser
ORR laps and expressway weekends
The 110 PS turbo with cruise control and a speed limiter is a genuine highway engine, but cabin refinement trails the segment's established players at speed.
Family First
Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips
No published crash-test score for the India car is a real gap for a family buyer, even though 6 airbags are standard from the Feel trim upward.
Driving Enthusiast
Cares how it steers, not just how it looks
The Turbo Shine AT's 110 PS and 205 Nm give it genuine pace for the segment, with a proper 6-speed torque-converter automatic rather than an AMT.
First-Car Buyer
Budget-conscious and resale-aware
Low running costs, a CNG option and the lowest entry price in Citroën's India range make it an easy first car, though resale value is untested versus Maruti and Hyundai.
Chauffeur-Driven Executive
Judged from the rear seat
A budget hatchback-coupé with a small cabin isn't built for chauffeur duty; look at a sedan or a larger SUV instead.
Weekend Explorer
Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads
Road-biased tyres and an unconfirmed ground clearance figure mean it's built for tarmac weekends, not broken trails.
Paint Protection
PPF for the Citroën C3X: What We Install and Why
Where it takes damage
The low front bumper apron takes the first kerb scrapes in signal queues, the lower doors show stone chips sooner than class rivals on thinner paint, and the glossy-black roof rails on Shine trims scuff during dealer handling.
Our recommendation
AG1 front bumper and bonnet-lip film as the entry package for Live/Live(O) buyers who skip protection most often; AG1 full-front with lower-door strips for Feel and Shine owners who keep the car longer.
Coverage
Front bumper and bonnet standard; add lower doors and roof-rail strips for Shine trim buyers.

FAQs
Citroën C3X: Questions Buyers Ask
Citroën lists the C3X from ₹4.99 lakh (Live petrol) to ₹9.68 lakh (Turbo Shine AT) ex-showroom on citroen.in, as of 29 October 2026. A CNG variant starts at ₹5.73 lakh.
No Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP result has been published for the India-spec C3X as of October 2026 — it does not appear on bncap.in's ratings list, unlike the related Basalt and C3 Aircross. A separate Latin NCAP test of the Brazil-built C3 (zero stars, March 2023) applies to a different market build and should not be read as the India car's rating.
Feel(O) adds the 26 cm touchscreen, wireless Android Auto/CarPlay and a reversing camera without the Turbo premium. Turbo Shine AT is the only variant with the 110 PS engine and a torque-converter automatic together.
Its front bumper and lower doors are the panels we see chipped most often at delivery-plus-one-year, so a front-and-bonnet AG1 film is our standard recommendation for new C3X owners. Message Auto Grid on WhatsApp for a plan by trim.

The top variant is the Turbo Shine AT (Petrol, 6-speed AT) at ₹9.68 lakh ex-showroom Delhi; the base model is the Live (Petrol, 5-speed MT) at ₹4.99 lakh. 9 variants in all, as of 29 Oct 2026.
