Atto 3 Waiting Period
Typical across India: Dealers were sitting on hundreds of undelivered BYD bookings as of January 2026, with waiting periods 'stretching into months' across the brand's CBU/CKD range because of the 2,500-unit-per-model annual import cap rather than weak demand (Cartoq, 30 Jan 2026). (as of 30 Jan 2026)
This is a brand-wide constraint, not an Atto 3-specific dealer survey. The Atto 3 and eMAX 7 have separate homologation approvals that let BYD import beyond the base quota, so their wait may run shorter than the Seal or Sealion 7.
Use the wait well: book your AG1 PPF slot for delivery week so the film goes on before the first stone chip. WhatsApp your expected delivery date.
The Auto Grid Review
BYD Atto 3 Review: Our Verdict
The Atto 3 is the BYD we see most often in Kondapur simply because it has been on sale longest, and the LFP Blade battery pack under the floor has not changed our approach to the car in three years of PPF work. The nose is relatively flat and upright, so the lower bumper and the chrome strip connecting the headlamps take stone chips first on Hyderabad's broken flyover ramps; the C-pillar's patterned garnish is plastic and holds up well, but the bonnet's wide, flat surface shows swirl marks from a dealer buff more clearly than most compact SUVs we see. Ski White and Harbour Grey cars show this least; Cosmos Black shows it most. The 12.8-inch rotating screen and the guitar-string door pockets are a talking point with every owner who brings one in.
What we like
- +5-star Euro NCAP rating with 7 airbags on every variant
- +Up to 521 km ARAI range on the larger 60.48 kWh battery
- +LFP Blade battery has a strong reputation for longevity and thermal stability
- +Distinctive, well-finished cabin with a genuinely useful 440-litre boot
What we’d change
- –Not yet tested by Bharat NCAP, only the older 2022 Euro NCAP result applies
- –Import-quota constraints mean waiting periods can stretch to months in peak demand
- –Dynamic base variant lacks the ADAS suite reserved for Superior
- –Flat bonnet and bumper show dealer-buff swirl marks readily under inspection light
Is the Atto 3 right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored
Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.
City Commuter
10–30 km a day through traffic
The tight turning circle and the 468 km range on the smaller battery make it an easy, low-anxiety daily driver for Hyderabad traffic.
Highway Cruiser
ORR laps and expressway weekends
The 60.48 kWh battery's 521 km range and 80 kW DC fast charging make it a comfortable expressway car, provided you route around BYD's still-growing charger network.
Family First
Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips
5-star Euro NCAP, 7 airbags and a 440-litre boot make it a solidly safe and practical family EV, though a current Bharat NCAP result would add more confidence.
Driving Enthusiast
Cares how it steers, not just how it looks
204 PS is adequate rather than exciting, and the chassis is tuned for comfort over cornering feedback.
First-Car Buyer
Budget-conscious and resale-aware
A reasonable step into EV ownership at this price, though a new-to-India brand and import-linked waiting periods add more uncertainty than a first-time buyer may want.
Chauffeur-Driven Executive
Judged from the rear seat
Rear legroom and the flat floor are decent for the segment, though a plusher cabin finish elsewhere might suit a strictly chauffeured brief better.
Weekend Explorer
Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads
175 mm ground clearance and front-wheel-drive-only limit it to tarmac and well-maintained unpaved roads.
Paint Protection
PPF for the BYD Atto 3: What We Install and Why
Where it takes damage
The flat, upright nose and the chrome strip connecting the headlamps take the first stone chips on Hyderabad's broken flyover ramps; the wide, flat bonnet surface shows dealer-buff swirl marks more readily than most compact SUVs, especially in Cosmos Black.
Our recommendation
AG1 full-front as the baseline for every Atto 3, with full-body AG1 Square recommended for Superior trim buyers who have paid for the full equipment list and want the paint to match.
Coverage
Full front standard; add the bonnet and front fenders for ORR-heavy use, full body for Superior trim cars.

FAQs
BYD Atto 3: Questions Buyers Ask
The Atto 3 is priced from ₹24.99 lakh (Dynamic) to ₹34.49 lakh (Superior) ex-showroom, after BYD India's confirmed 2026 price revisions (effective 1 May and 1 July) added ₹50,000 each to the Premium and Superior trims while the Dynamic's introductory price held; confirmed against BYD India's own price-revision announcement and current dealer-listing price tables (CarWale, ZigWheels, Cars24), all checked 1 November 2026. Autocar India's variants page shows higher ₹32.33 lakh/₹36.74 lakh figures for Premium/Superior, but that page is labelled 'on road price, Delhi' rather than ex-showroom, which explains the gap flagged in an earlier audit.
It remains a well-rounded compact electric SUV — strong Euro NCAP credentials, a reputable LFP Blade battery and a usable 521 km range on the larger pack. The caveats are the lack of a current Bharat NCAP result and import-quota-linked waiting periods that can stretch into months during peak demand.
The Premium strikes the best balance — it adds the larger 60.48 kWh battery and its 521 km range over the Dynamic without the Superior's full price jump; pick the Superior only if you specifically want the Level 2 ADAS suite.
5 stars from Euro NCAP, tested in 2022. The current Atto 3 has not yet been tested by Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP as of this run.
The VF 7 is larger, offers an AWD Sky variant and a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating; the Atto 3 is smaller, has a longer India track record and carries a reputable LFP Blade battery with a 5-star Euro NCAP result, though from an older 2022 test.
Yes, on the Premium and Superior trims — the base Dynamic does not get ventilated front seats.
The Harrier EV is larger, has Tata's deep India service network and a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating; the Atto 3 is smaller and cheaper with a proven LFP Blade battery, but still carries only a 2022 Euro NCAP result rather than a current Bharat NCAP score.
Yes — its flat bonnet and upright nose are the panels we see chipped and swirled most often, so a full-front AG1 package is our standard recommendation for every Atto 3.
Indicatively ₹25.66 lakh–₹35.92 lakh on-road in Hyderabad: ex-showroom ₹24.99 lakh–₹34.49 lakh (Delhi, 1 Nov 2026) plus Telangana life tax (0% (EV exemption)), first-year insurance and registration. EVs pay no road tax or registration fee in Telangana until 31 December 2026. Dealer quotes vary with insurance add-ons and accessories.
BYD's claimed figures: 49.92 kWh LFP Blade — 468 km (ARAI); 60.48 kWh LFP Blade — 521 km (ARAI). Real-world figures depend on traffic, load and driving style.
The top variant is the Superior (Electric, Single-speed automatic, FWD) at ₹34.49 lakh ex-showroom Delhi; the base model is the Dynamic (Electric, Single-speed automatic, FWD) at ₹24.99 lakh. 3 variants in all, as of 1 Nov 2026.
Atto 3: Compact electric SUV, ₹24.99 lakh – ₹34.49 lakh ex-showroom, Electric, Auto Grid rating 3.9/5. Carens Clavis EV: Electric 3-row MPV, ₹18.04 lakh – ₹25.00 lakh ex-showroom, Electric, rated 4.1/5. See the Kia Carens Clavis EV page for its full variant list and our verdict.
Atto 3: Compact electric SUV, ₹24.99 lakh – ₹34.49 lakh ex-showroom, Electric, Auto Grid rating 3.9/5. XEV 9e: Premium electric coupé-SUV, ₹21.90 lakh – ₹30.50 lakh ex-showroom, Electric, rated 4.6/5. See the Mahindra XEV 9e page for its full variant list and our verdict.
