Duster Waiting Period
Typical across India: No waiting in Delhi and Pune for turbo-petrol variants; 1–4 weeks in most other metros; up to 4 weeks in Mumbai · Hyderabad dealers: 1–4 weeks for turbo-petrol (CarDekho dealer survey, 15 September 2026) (as of 15 Sept 2026)
Applies to turbo-petrol variants only. The E-Tech strong hybrid opened bookings on 9 October 2026 and made its market debut on 17 October 2026, too recently for an independent dealer waiting-period survey; expect a longer queue given the hybrid's 29 kmpl claim and lack of a direct rival at this price.
Use the wait well: book your AG1 PPF slot for delivery week so the film goes on before the first stone chip. WhatsApp your expected delivery date.
The Auto Grid Review
Renault Duster Review: Our Verdict
The new Duster has only just started reaching our Kondapur bay — R-Pass customers who took early deliveries in April, almost always on the TCe 160 DCT in Pearl White or Mountain Jade Green. It's a proper SUV body in hand: tall, flat flanks that film easily, and a tougher-feeling paint finish than the outgoing Kiger or Triber. The front bumper, the lower door cladding and the reinforced wheel arches are the first things to show stone-chip damage on ORR runs given the SUV's genuine 212 mm clearance and off-road-leaning stance. It's too new for us to have seen a chipped bonnet yet, but the panel gaps and paint depth already feel like a step up from Renault's smaller cars, and we expect Iconic and hybrid buyers — who are paying Creta and Seltos money — to want full-body protection from day one.
What we like
- +Genuinely segment-first strong-hybrid option claiming 29 kmpl, well ahead of diesel rivals
- +17 ADAS features and a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating at a price well below the Creta/Seltos equivalent
- +212 mm ground clearance and true SUV proportions, validated by IDIADA for Indian roads
- +163 PS TCe 160 DCT is genuinely quick and refined for the segment
What we’d change
- –E-Tech hybrid allocation is extremely tight — book now and expect a long wait
- –Renault's roughly 500–640 sales and service touchpoints are thin next to Hyundai or Maruti's network
- –Price overlaps meaningfully with the Creta and Seltos once you option into Techno+ or Iconic
- –Too new in India for long-term reliability data to exist yet
Is the Duster right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored
Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.
City Commuter
10–30 km a day through traffic
It's a big car for pure city use, but the TCe 160 DCT and light steering make it manageable, and the 212 mm clearance shrugs off Hyderabad's broken side roads with ease.
Highway Cruiser
ORR laps and expressway weekends
The 163 PS TCe 160 DCT and IDIADA-validated chassis make this the most composed Renault highway cruiser sold in India, and the E-Tech hybrid adds genuine fuel-cost relief on long runs.
Family First
Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips
6 airbags, a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating and a genuinely usable 700 L boot make it a strong family pick, just short of the Creta's rear-seat space.
Driving Enthusiast
Cares how it steers, not just how it looks
The TCe 160 DCT has real pace and the multi-sense drive modes add some flavour, but this is a comfort-tuned SUV first, not a corner-carver.
First-Car Buyer
Budget-conscious and resale-aware
Capable but priced and sized well above a typical first car; look at the Kiger or Triber instead unless this is a planned step-up purchase.
Chauffeur-Driven Executive
Judged from the rear seat
Iconic trim's ventilated seats and 360° camera read as premium for the price, though rear legroom still trails the Creta and Seltos at the same spend.
Weekend Explorer
Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads
212 mm clearance, skid plates and a genuinely tough-feeling body make it one of the better weekend-trip SUVs at this price, short of the 4x4 off-roaders above it.
Paint Protection
PPF for the Renault Duster: What We Install and Why
Where it takes damage
The 212 mm clearance and SUV stance put the front bumper, lower door cladding and reinforced wheel arches directly in the stone-chip line on ORR and highway runs; Pearl White and Moonlight Silver will show scuffs and swirl fastest under our inspection lamps once dealer-prep buffing starts.
Our recommendation
AG1 full-front is our baseline recommendation given the Duster's highway-oriented use case, and we push full-body AG1 Square for Iconic and E-Tech hybrid buyers paying Creta-adjacent money for the car.
Coverage
Full front standard; add lower-door cladding and rear wheel-arch guards for highway-heavy and Adventure/Iconic buyers.

FAQs
Renault Duster: Questions Buyers Ask
Renault prices the new-generation Duster from ₹10,49,000 (Authentic TCe 100 MT) to ₹19,49,000 (Emotion E-Tech 160 strong hybrid) ex-showroom, all-India, per Renault's own price page checked on 1 November 2026.
CarDekho's 15 September 2026 survey put turbo-petrol Duster waiting times at 1–4 weeks in Hyderabad and most metros, with no waiting in Delhi and Pune. The E-Tech strong hybrid only opened bookings on 9 October 2026, so no independent waiting-period survey exists yet — expect a longer queue.
Its ARAI-certified 29 kmpl is the best fuel efficiency of any petrol-engined compact SUV sold in India and undercuts diesel running costs, but Renault has not published a firm delivery timeline for new hybrid bookings beyond the initial allocation — confirm the current queue with a dealer before committing.
Yes. The new Duster holds a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, scoring 30.49 out of 32 for adult occupant protection and 45 out of 49 for child occupant protection, and comes with 17 ADAS features across the range.
Its tall SUV stance and reinforced wheel arches take highway stone chips on the front bumper and lower doors, so a full-front AG1 film is our standard recommendation, with full-body coverage worth considering on Iconic and hybrid trims.
For the price, yes — it pairs a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating and 17 ADAS features with true SUV proportions and, uniquely in this segment, a 29 kmpl strong-hybrid option. The trade-offs are Renault's thinner dealer network next to Hyundai or Maruti and the lack of any India ownership history for this all-new generation.
No. The new-generation Duster is petrol-only in India — a 100 PS 1.0L turbo-petrol, a 163 PS 1.3L turbo-petrol, and the 160 PS E-Tech strong hybrid. Renault has not announced a diesel option for this generation.
The Duster undercuts both on price while matching their 5-star safety ratings and ADAS count, and its E-Tech hybrid is more fuel-efficient than anything the Creta or Seltos offer; the Creta and Seltos still lead on rear-seat space, dealer network size and resale value, both proven over many more years in India.
The Sierra is the more premium, feature-loaded software-defined SUV with a bigger cabin, while the Duster undercuts it on price and uniquely offers a strong-hybrid powertrain; choose the Sierra for cabin tech and space, the Duster for running costs and off-road-oriented ground clearance.
No. The Duster is a 5-seater compact SUV in every India trim and powertrain, including the E-Tech strong hybrid. Buyers wanting a 7-seat Renault should look at the sub-4-metre Triber instead.
The Tekton is a badge-engineered version of the Dacia/Renault-platform Duster sold through Nissan's India network with its own styling and feature mix; the Duster is the Renault original and currently the only one of the two offered with the E-Tech strong-hybrid powertrain.
Indicatively ₹12.59 lakh–₹23.84 lakh on-road in Hyderabad: ex-showroom ₹10.49 lakh–₹19.49 lakh (Delhi, 1 Nov 2026) plus Telangana life tax (17%–18%), first-year insurance and registration. Dealer quotes vary with insurance add-ons and accessories.
Renault's claimed figures: TCe 160 turbo-petrol — 18.45 kmpl (ARAI, DCT); E-Tech 160 strong hybrid — 29 kmpl (ARAI-certified). Real-world figures depend on traffic, load and driving style.
The top variant is the Emotion E-Tech 160 Strong Hybrid (Hybrid, Multi-mode dedicated hybrid transmission) at ₹19.49 lakh ex-showroom Delhi; the base model is the Authentic TCe 100 MT (Petrol, 6-speed MT) at ₹10.49 lakh. 20 variants in all, as of 1 Nov 2026.
Ground clearance 212 mm, boot space 700 litres, 5 seats, length 4346 mm (Renault official specification).
