Kiger Waiting Period
Typical across India: No waiting in Delhi and Pune; 1–4 weeks in most other metros; up to 4 weeks in Mumbai · Hyderabad dealers: 1–4 weeks (CarDekho dealer survey, 15 September 2026) (as of 15 Sept 2026)
Dealer-reported; the Evolution+ trim across both Energy and Turbo powertrains was only added in the June 2026 update, so colour and transmission combinations can still be patchy at some dealers.

The Auto Grid Review
Renault Kiger Review: Our Verdict
The Kiger is one of the more common Renaults in our Kondapur bay, usually the Turbo CVT in Stealth Black or Ice Cool White. Its sharply creased bonnet and the Tri-Octa LED headlamp surrounds are fiddly to mask but straightforward to film, while the front skid plate and lower bumper take the brunt of ORR stone chips thanks to the 205 mm clearance and short front overhang. We see more interior-plastic complaints on Kigers than on most cars this price — owners regularly ask us about door-sill and dashboard protection as much as the paint, which tells you where Renault trimmed cost to hit this price point. The turbo-CVT cars that come in are almost always driven hard, so the lower doors and rear wheel arches pick up chips faster than the Energy variants.
What we like
- +One of the most affordable turbo-petrol SUVs in India, with a genuine CVT option
- +205 mm ground clearance and skid plates suit Hyderabad's broken roads
- +6 airbags and 21 safety features standard across the range
- +405 L boot and 29 L of extra cabin storage are both best-in-segment claims
What we’d change
- –Hard, scratch-prone interior plastics and real-world cabin noise are well-documented owner complaints
- –Turbo-CVT real-world mileage regularly falls short of the ARAI figure, especially in city driving
- –4-star Global NCAP rating is from a 2022 base-spec test, ahead of the current update
- –Some owners report fuel-pump and ethanol-sensitivity issues on earlier-build cars
Is the Kiger right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored
Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.
City Commuter
10–30 km a day through traffic
The X-Tronic CVT is genuinely smooth in Hyderabad traffic and the seating position is one of the best in its segment, though Eco mode is almost unusably weak.
Highway Cruiser
ORR laps and expressway weekends
100 PS turbo and the CVT make ORR overtakes easy, but owners report cabin noise and wind intrusion climbing past 100 km/h.
Family First
Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips
ISOFIX, 6 airbags and a usable 405 L boot cover the basics, but the cabin plastics and road noise are a step behind the Nexon or Punch for a family that lives in the car.
Driving Enthusiast
Cares how it steers, not just how it looks
The turbo-MT with its 100 PS and flat torque is genuinely the quickest car at this price point to 100 km/h, even if the chassis doesn't reward hard cornering.
First-Car Buyer
Budget-conscious and resale-aware
Strong value for a first turbo-petrol car, with easy ownership costs, though budget for interior wear earlier than with a Maruti or Tata equivalent.
Chauffeur-Driven Executive
Judged from the rear seat
Rear seat room is adequate but the cabin finish and NVH don't match what an executive buyer expects at this spend.
Weekend Explorer
Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads
205 mm clearance and skid plates are genuinely useful on weekend trips to Nagarjuna Sagar, but front-wheel drive and road tyres limit it beyond light gravel.
Paint Protection
PPF for the Renault Kiger: What We Install and Why
Where it takes damage
The 205 mm clearance and short front overhang put the skid plate and lower bumper directly in the stone-chip line on ORR ramps; Stealth Black and Caspian Blue show swirl marks fastest under our inspection lamps, and the lower doors chip quickly on turbo-CVT cars that get driven harder.
Our recommendation
AG1 full-front is our standard Kiger package, and we push door-sill protection film given how often owners come back asking about interior wear rather than just the paint.
Coverage
Full front standard; add lower doors and rear wheel-arch guards for highway-heavy Turbo-CVT owners.

FAQs
Renault Kiger: Questions Buyers Ask
Renault prices the Kiger from ₹5,81,000 (Authentic 1.0 Energy MT) to ₹10,35,000 (Emotion Turbo X-Tronic CVT) ex-showroom, all-India, per Renault's own price configurator checked on 1 November 2026.
CarDekho's 15 September 2026 dealer survey put Hyderabad at 1–4 weeks across the Kiger range, in line with most Renault dealerships outside Delhi, Pune and Mumbai.
The Turbo X-Tronic CVT on Techno is the sweet spot for most buyers — it adds the auto AC, touchscreen and the smoother CVT without the Emotion trim's full premium. Buyers who want the base manual should look at Evolution+ for push-button start and auto AC at a lower cost.
The previous-generation Kiger scored a 4-star Global NCAP adult rating in a 2022 test of the base RXE specification with dual airbags; Renault has not published a separate crash-test result for the current 6-airbag update as of this writing.
Owner forums most often report hard, scratch-prone interior plastics, cabin and road noise, real-world mileage well below the ARAI claim in city driving, and isolated fuel-pump failures linked to higher ethanol-blend fuel on earlier-build cars.
For the price, yes — 6 airbags, a genuine turbo-CVT and class-leading boot and cabin storage are rare at this budget, but go in expecting harder interior plastics and more road noise than a Tata Punch or Maruti Fronx at the same spend.
Choose the Kiger for SUV styling, a turbo-petrol option and a CVT if you rarely carry more than five people; choose the Triber if you regularly need a usable third row — both share the same base 72 PS engine and roughly the same starting price.
The two share a platform and powertrains, so the choice usually comes down to styling, dealer proximity and showroom deals — the Magnite has historically run slightly more aggressive pricing, while the Kiger's cabin storage and boot space are marginally larger.
The Kiger offers a proper turbo-petrol with a CVT that the Punch doesn't match, while the Punch counters with a 5-star Global NCAP rating and typically stronger resale value; choose the Kiger for powertrain choice, the Punch for safety reputation.
No. The Renault Kiger is not offered with a sunroof on any variant in India — buyers who want one should look at the Tata Punch, Maruti Fronx or Citroën C3X in this segment.
Indicatively ₹6.83 lakh–₹12.68 lakh on-road in Hyderabad: ex-showroom ₹5.81 lakh–₹10.35 lakh (Delhi, 1 Nov 2026) plus Telangana life tax (14%), first-year insurance and registration. Dealer quotes vary with insurance add-ons and accessories.
Renault's claimed figures: 1.0L Energy petrol — 19.83 kmpl (ARAI, MT); 1.0L Turbo petrol — 20.38 kmpl (ARAI, Turbo MT). Real-world figures depend on traffic, load and driving style.
The top variant is the Emotion 1.0 Turbo X-Tronic CVT (Petrol, CVT) at ₹10.35 lakh ex-showroom Delhi; the base model is the Authentic 1.0 Energy MT (Petrol, 5-speed MT) at ₹5.81 lakh. 13 variants in all, as of 1 Nov 2026.
Ground clearance 205 mm, boot space 405 litres, 5 seats, length 3990 mm (Renault official specification).
