The Auto Grid Review
Nissan Magnite Review: Our Verdict
The Magnite is a frequent sight in our Kondapur bay, usually a Turbo Tekna+ in Onyx Black or Pearl White dual-tone. The 205 mm ground clearance helps it shrug off broken Madhapur roads, but that same height means the front bumper's lower lip and the wheel-arch cladding take the brunt of stone chips on ORR runs. Nissan's clear coat holds up reasonably well against swirling, though the honeycomb tail-lamp cluster's chrome strip scratches more easily than the surrounding plastic. The Turbo CVT is the version most owners bring in soon after delivery, usually asking for a front-and-sill package before their first highway trip to visakhapatnam or the ghats. It's a straightforward car to film — flat doors, simple creases — and the 336-litre boot's liner is one of the tidier ones we see in this segment.
What we like
- +5-star Global NCAP rating on 6-airbag variants
- +205 mm ground clearance, among the best in its segment
- +Turbo-CVT combination is genuinely quick for a sub-4m SUV
- +Strong dealer network and low running costs
What we’d change
- –Base 2-airbag variants score far lower on Global NCAP than the 6-airbag versions
- –336-litre boot trails the Tata Punch and Renault Kiger
- –Bharat NCAP has not yet tested the current Magnite
- –Turbo-petrol variants ask for 91-octane-grade care in fuel quality
Is the Magnite right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored
Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.
City Commuter
10–30 km a day through traffic
The EZ-SHIFT AMT or Turbo CVT make it an easy, relaxed commuter, and 205 mm clearance handles Madhapur's broken stretches without fuss.
Highway Cruiser
ORR laps and expressway weekends
The Turbo CVT's 152 Nm gives confident overtaking power on the ORR, though cabin noise rises above 100 km/h.
Family First
Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips
6 airbags and a 5-star GNCAP rating on the N-Connecta and above make it a safe, sensible family pick, even if the boot is on the smaller side.
Driving Enthusiast
Cares how it steers, not just how it looks
The turbo-petrol has decent mid-range punch, but the chassis and brakes are tuned for comfort rather than outright cornering.
First-Car Buyer
Budget-conscious and resale-aware
Easy to drive, cheap to insure and maintain, with a wide variant spread — one of the most sensible first-SUV choices in its price band.
Chauffeur-Driven Executive
Judged from the rear seat
Rear legroom and seat height are sub-4m-SUV sized; an executive will want the Creta or Seltos instead.
Weekend Explorer
Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads
205 mm ground clearance is genuinely useful on broken roads, though it remains front-wheel drive only with road-biased tyres.
Paint Protection
PPF for the Nissan Magnite: What We Install and Why
Where it takes damage
The front bumper's lower lip and the wheel-arch cladding take the brunt of stone chips given the car's 205 mm ground clearance and highway use; the honeycomb tail-lamp cluster's chrome strip scratches more easily than the surrounding plastic.
Our recommendation
AG1 full-front with wheel-arch and sill protection for daily commuters; add the tail-lamp chrome strip as a focus area for owners who reverse into tight parking often.
Coverage
Full front standard; add lower-door and wheel-arch guards for highway-heavy users.

FAQs
Nissan Magnite: Questions Buyers Ask
Nissan lists the Magnite from ₹5,69,400 (VISIA MT) to ₹10,99,000 (Turbo TEKNA+ X-TRONIC CVT) ex-showroom on nissan.in's official price list as of 30 October 2026.
The 2025-model-year Magnite with 6 airbags scored a 5-star Global NCAP rating for Adult Occupant Protection (32.31/34) and 3-star for Child Occupant Protection in July 2025 testing. The base 2-airbag variant scored lower at 2 stars in both categories. Bharat NCAP has not yet tested the Magnite.
N-Connecta gives alloy wheels, the digital cluster and the bigger touchscreen without the Tekna premium. Turbo CVT trims add the quickest, smoothest drivetrain in the range.
Yes, Nissan offers a factory-fitted CNG option on the 1.0L naturally-aspirated petrol engine with a claimed 19.4 km/kg efficiency.
Its front bumper and wheel-arch cladding are the panels we repair most often given the car's height and highway use, so a full-front AG1 film with wheel-arch guards is our standard Magnite package. Message Auto Grid on WhatsApp for a plan for your trim.
The Magnite's turbo-CVT combination is quicker and its 205 mm ground clearance matches the Punch; the Punch counters with a bigger 366-litre boot, a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating and Tata's wider EV-ready service ecosystem. Both are strong sub-4m SUV picks.
Both share the Renault-Nissan CMF-A+ platform and identical engines. The Kiger has a bigger 405-litre boot; the Magnite counters with a wider dealer network in several states and Nissan's 10-year/200,000 km warranty option.
Yes, for buyers who want a safe, well-equipped sub-4m SUV — the 6-airbag variants hold a 5-star Global NCAP rating, the turbo-CVT is genuinely quick, and running costs are low, though the 336-litre boot trails the Punch and Kiger.
The Brezza is the bigger, more family-focused SUV with a larger boot and a stronger resale value; the Magnite undercuts it on price across most trims and offers a turbo-petrol option the Brezza doesn't.
The Turbo N-Connecta, Turbo Tekna and Turbo Tekna+ trims carry the 100 PS 1.0L turbo-petrol, available with a 5-speed manual or X-TRONIC CVT; VISIA, VISIA+ and ACENTA use the naturally-aspirated 1.0L engine.
Indicatively ₹6.69 lakh–₹13.47 lakh on-road in Hyderabad: ex-showroom ₹5.69 lakh–₹10.99 lakh (Delhi, 30 Oct 2026) plus Telangana life tax (14%), first-year insurance and registration. Dealer quotes vary with insurance add-ons and accessories.
Nissan's claimed figures: 1.0L naturally-aspirated petrol — 19.9 km/l; 1.0L turbo-petrol — 17.9 km/l; 1.0L petrol CNG — 19.4 km/kg. Real-world figures depend on traffic, load and driving style.
The top variant is the TURBO TEKNA+ X-TRONIC CVT (Petrol, X-TRONIC CVT) at ₹10.99 lakh ex-showroom Delhi; the base model is the VISIA MT (Petrol, 5-speed MT) at ₹5.69 lakh. 16 variants in all, as of 30 Oct 2026.
Ground clearance 205 mm, boot space 336 litres, 5 seats, length 3994 mm (Nissan official specification).
