The Auto Grid Review
MG Majestor Review: Our Verdict
The Majestor is too new and too rare in Hyderabad for us to have built up real paint-condition data on it yet — most of what we've seen has been pre-delivery inspection work for dealers rather than a used-and-driven car coming in for correction. What we can say from its size and shape: the long bonnet, the tall front bumper and the big flat doors on a 5-metre body make it a straightforward, if large, car to film, and the 219 mm clearance and 810 mm wading depth suggest buyers will actually use it off tarmac, which means the lower doors and wheel arches deserve coverage from day one rather than after the first scrape shows up. At ₹43-46 lakh, this is a car buyers protect fully rather than partially.
What we like
- +215.5 PS/478.5 Nm diesel with a genuine 4x4 and triple diff lock, not just a 4x2 with cladding
- +219 mm ground clearance and 810 mm wading depth back up its SUV styling
- +Flagship-level cabin — massage seats, dual 12.3-inch screens, 12-speaker JBL
- +Undercuts some of its D-segment rivals on equipment at a similar price
What we’d change
- –No Global NCAP or Bharat NCAP crash-test result yet — it's too new to have been tested
- –Two price hikes already in its first six months on sale (₹2.5 lakh over launch price)
- –No dated India waiting-period survey exists yet
- –MG's service and parts network for a flagship diesel SUV is unproven next to Toyota's for the Fortuner
Is the Majestor right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored
Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.
City Commuter
10–30 km a day through traffic
A 5-metre, near-2-tonne diesel SUV is more than most city commutes call for; it's comfortable but oversized for daily Hyderabad traffic alone.
Highway Cruiser
ORR laps and expressway weekends
478.5 Nm and the 8-speed automatic make it a strong, composed highway cruiser, with the cabin isolation its price suggests.
Family First
Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips
Space and comfort are there for a large family, but the lack of a published crash-test result is a real gap at this price point.
Driving Enthusiast
Cares how it steers, not just how it looks
It's a comfort- and capability-focused flagship, not a car built for a keen driver.
First-Car Buyer
Budget-conscious and resale-aware
This is nobody's first car — the ₹43-46 lakh price and the full-size footprint both rule it out for a first-time buyer.
Chauffeur-Driven Executive
Judged from the rear seat
Massage seats, a quiet diesel and genuine rear-seat space make the Majestor a credible chauffeur-driven choice.
Weekend Explorer
Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads
219 mm clearance, 4x4 with a triple diff lock and real wading depth mean this one can actually leave the tarmac, not just look like it can.
Paint Protection
PPF for the MG Majestor: What We Install and Why
Where it takes damage
The long bonnet and tall front bumper take the first highway stone chips on a car this size, and the 219 mm clearance and genuine off-road use mean the lower doors and wheel arches are at real risk of scrapes, not just theoretical ones.
Our recommendation
AG1 Square full body is our standard recommendation for a flagship-priced SUV like this, with reinforced lower-door and wheel-arch coverage for owners who use the 4x4 off tarmac.
Coverage
Full body standard; add underbody and wheel-arch guards for genuine off-road or rural-route use.

FAQs
MG Majestor: Questions Buyers Ask
After a second price revision effective November 2026, MG prices the Majestor from ₹43,49,000 (Savvy 4X2, 6-seater) to ₹45,99,000 (Savvy 4X4, 7-seater) ex-showroom — up ₹2.5 lakh from its May 2026 launch price of ₹40.99 lakh.
The Savvy 4X4 7-seater is a genuine 4-wheel-drive variant with a triple differential lock and 10 terrain modes; MG also sells 4X2 (rear-wheel-drive) 6- and 7-seater versions at a lower price.
MG has not published an official ARAI-certified mileage figure for the Majestor. Autocar India and Bajaj Finance both estimate it will land close to the outgoing Gloster's tested 8.4 kmpl (city) and 10.8 kmpl (highway), since the 2.0L twin-turbo diesel and 8-speed automatic are largely carried over — but treat this as an unofficial estimate, not a company claim.
Yes. MG launched the Majestor on 27 May 2026 as its new flagship, replacing the Gloster, and it is on sale today in Savvy 4X2 (6- and 7-seat) and Savvy 4X4 (7-seat) variants.
Yes. At 5,046 mm long with a 2,950 mm wheelbase, the Majestor is longer than the Fortuner and sits closer to full-size three-row SUVs like the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 in footprint, though the Fortuner remains the more established choice on service network and resale.
The Majestor's ground clearance is 219 mm per MG's own specifications. We could not confirm an official, India-specific ground-clearance figure for the Fortuner Legender in this run — check both against the OEM spec sheet before comparing off-road capability.
The Majestor replaces the Gloster as MG India's flagship SUV, carrying over the same 2.0L twin-turbo diesel and 8-speed automatic but with a longer body, a new cabin with dual 12.3-inch screens and massage seats, and a higher starting price (₹40.99 lakh at May 2026 launch vs the Gloster's lower entry price).
No Global NCAP or Bharat NCAP result has been published yet — the Majestor only launched in May 2026 and is still too new to have been independently tested.
No dated November 2026 dealer or news survey of Majestor waiting periods was found at the time of writing; delivery timing is dealer- and variant-dependent, so confirm directly with your nearest MG dealership.
Given its size, price and genuine off-road capability, we recommend a full-body AG1 Square film with extra lower-door and wheel-arch coverage rather than a partial job.
Indicatively ₹52.47 lakh–₹57.09 lakh on-road in Hyderabad: ex-showroom ₹43.49 lakh–₹45.99 lakh (Delhi, 1 Nov 2026) plus Telangana life tax (18%–20%), first-year insurance and registration. Dealer quotes vary with insurance add-ons and accessories.
The top variant is the Savvy 4X4 (7-seater) (Diesel, 8-speed AT) at ₹45.99 lakh ex-showroom Delhi; the base model is the Savvy 4X2 (6-seater) (Diesel, 8-speed AT) at ₹43.49 lakh. 3 variants in all, as of 1 Nov 2026.
