The Auto Grid Review
Audi Q7 Review: Our Verdict
The Q7s that come through our Kondapur bay are family cars doing real highway distance — Hyderabad to Bangalore, Hyderabad to the coast — and that use pattern shows on the paint before anything else does. The tall, flat bonnet and the wide front bumper take the first stone chips on long runs, the lower doors and rear quarter panels sand-blast on anything resembling a gravel approach road, and the panoramic roof's edge trim is where we most often see clear-coat fade on cars that sit outdoors in Hyderabad's sun. It is a big, honest car to work on — flat panels, generous access, no exotic trim to mask — and the air suspension and quattro system feel properly engineered rather than badge-deep. Most owners we see are on Technology with the Matrix LED and B&O setup, and nearly all of them ask us to cover the whole car rather than just the front, because a Q7 at this price is a long-term keeper, not a three-year flip.
What we like
- +quattro AWD with adaptive air suspension handles broken Indian roads well for a car this size
- +Genuinely usable 7-seat flexibility with a power-folding third row
- +Locally assembled, which has kept pricing more stable than fully-imported rivals
- +Flat, simple body panels that film cleanly with minimal disassembly
What we’d change
- –No Bharat NCAP test published for the India-spec car
- –Petrol-only in India; no diesel despite the V6 TDI being sold abroad
- –Third row is tight for adults on longer trips
- –ARAI-claimed 11.21 km/l means frequent fuel stops despite the 85-litre tank
Is the Q7 right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored
Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.
City Commuter
10–30 km a day through traffic
It's comfortable in traffic thanks to the air suspension, but the Q7's size and turning circle make it a handful in tight Hyderabad lanes and multi-level parking.
Highway Cruiser
ORR laps and expressway weekends
This is the Q7's reason for being — quiet at 100 kmph, strong torque for overtakes, and air suspension that irons out expressway expansion joints with ease.
Family First
Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips
Seven seats, 8 airbags, a power-folding third row and a 770-litre boot with the last row down make this one of the most genuinely family-practical luxury SUVs on sale.
Driving Enthusiast
Cares how it steers, not just how it looks
340 PS and 500 Nm move this big SUV convincingly in a straight line, but its size and comfort-tuned chassis aren't built for cornering thrills.
First-Car Buyer
Budget-conscious and resale-aware
Running costs, insurance and the sheer footprint rule this out as anyone's first car — it is bought by people already comfortable with luxury-car ownership.
Chauffeur-Driven Executive
Judged from the rear seat
Rear sunblinds, 4-zone climate and a smooth ride make the second row genuinely pleasant from the back seat, just short of a long-wheelbase sedan's isolation.
Weekend Explorer
Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads
Adjustable air suspension and an off-road drive mode give real ground-clearance flexibility for ghat roads and mild gravel, within the limits of road-biased tyres.
Paint Protection
PPF for the Audi Q7: What We Install and Why
Where it takes damage
The Q7's tall, flat bonnet and wide front bumper take the first stone chips on long highway runs like Hyderabad-Bangalore or hill-station trips that most seven-seat buyers actually make; the lower doors and rear quarter panels sand-blast on gravel approach roads, and the panoramic roof's edge trim is a common spot for clear-coat fade on cars parked outdoors through Hyderabad's summer.
Our recommendation
AG1 full-front with mirror caps as the base package for every Q7, since the bonnet and bumper damage is near-universal on this car; AG1 full-body for Technology and Signature Edition owners who use the Q7 for genuine long-distance family travel and want the roof, doors and rear quarters covered too.
Coverage
Full front, bonnet and mirror caps standard; add lower doors, sills and rear quarter panels for highway-heavy families, and full-body for owners planning to keep the car long term.

FAQs
Audi Q7: Questions Buyers Ask
Audi's official myAudi booking portal lists the Q7 from ₹87.17 lakh (Premium Plus) to ₹96.15 lakh (Technology) ex-showroom as of 5 November 2026, with the limited-run Signature Edition priced at ₹99.81 lakh.
The Q7 seats 7 across three rows. Boot space is 295 litres with the third row in use, expanding to roughly 770 litres with the third row folded flat, per Autocar India's measured specifications.
Audi's ARAI-claimed efficiency for the 3.0 TFSI V6 petrol is 11.21 km/l. Autocar India's long-term test recorded roughly 7 km/l in the city and around 10 km/l on the highway in real-world driving.
The India-spec Q7 has not been put through a published Bharat NCAP test. Euro NCAP awarded 5 stars to this platform's diesel variant in 2019, but that rating expired on 1 January 2026 under Euro NCAP's own validity rules, and a newer global-market Q7 (currently diesel and plug-in hybrid only) was retested and scored 5 stars again in October 2026 — that is a different generation not yet sold in India.
Yes — the bonnet and front bumper take the first stone chips on any highway trip, which is exactly how most Q7 owners use the car, so a full-front film with mirror caps is our standard starting package. Message Auto Grid on WhatsApp for a plan suited to your trim.
Yes. The current facelifted Q7 has been on sale since its 28 November 2024 launch, locally assembled at the SAVWIPL plant in Aurangabad, in Premium Plus, Technology and the limited-run Signature Edition.
Yes, the Q7 is a genuine three-row, 7-seater SUV with a power-folding third row, which is one of the main reasons buyers choose it over the 5-seat Q8.
All three are full-size luxury SUVs with seven seats. The Q7 is the smallest and most manageable of the three in city traffic, the GLS has the most opulent third row and air suspension comfort, and the X7 leans towards sportier handling. Pricing overlaps heavily, so a back-to-back test drive matters more than the spec sheet here.
Premium Plus already has air suspension, the panoramic roof and the power-folding third row, so it covers most needs; we'd only point a buyer to Technology or the Signature Edition if Matrix LED headlamps, the 19-speaker B&O system and the 360-camera genuinely matter. On reliability, we don't have independent long-term data broken down by variant — in our bay the air suspension and electronics have been no worse than rival German SUVs, but service through an authorised Audi dealer is worth budgeting for.
Indicatively ₹1.05 crore–₹1.20 crore on-road in Hyderabad: ex-showroom ₹87.17 lakh–₹96.15 lakh (New Delhi, 5 Nov 2026) plus Telangana life tax (18%–21%), first-year insurance and registration. Dealer quotes vary with insurance add-ons and accessories.

Q7: Full-size 7-seat luxury SUV, ₹87.17 lakh – ₹96.15 lakh ex-showroom, Petrol, Auto Grid rating 4.3/5. XC90: Full-size luxury SUV, ₹98.80 lakh ex-showroom, Petrol (Mild Hybrid, 48V), rated 4.3/5. See the Volvo XC90 page for its full variant list and our verdict.
