A4 Waiting Period
Typical across India: No fixed OEM-published waiting period. Audi India's brand director said the A4 was in production for only the first six-seven months of 2026 and is now effectively at run-out ahead of the A5, so delivery timing depends on unsold dealer/CBU stock rather than a fresh build slot. (as of 15 Oct 2026)
Use the wait well: book your AG1 PPF slot for delivery week so the film goes on before the first stone chip. WhatsApp your expected delivery date.
The Auto Grid Review
Audi A4 Review: Our Verdict
The A4s that reach our Kondapur bay now are mostly run-out stock, and it shows in how carefully owners treat them — this may be their last chance to own a new one before the A5 takes over. The long, flat bonnet and front bumper are the first to pick up expressway stone chips, and on Mythos Black and Manhattan Grey cars every swirl mark from a careless pre-delivery wash shows up under our inspection lamps. The sills and lower doors sandblast on ORR runs just like any low-slung sedan. Build quality on the German-sourced panels is still tight — panel gaps are consistently even — but because Audi has confirmed the model's production has already wound down for 2026, we tell owners this is a car to protect for the long haul rather than trade in after three years, since resale support and body panels will only get scarcer.
What we like
- +Composed, pothole-friendly ride tuned well for Indian roads
- +Strong resale badge value as Audi's long-running entry sedan
- +Tight panel gaps and a genuinely plush cabin at this price
- +7-speed S tronic is smooth and the 204 PS engine never feels strained
What we’d change
- –Production has wound down for 2026 — no fresh bookings, only dealer stock
- –No ADAS — forward collision warning, AEB and blind-spot monitoring are absent
- –FWD only, no quattro option on this generation sold in India
- –Euro NCAP's 5-star rating dates to 2015 and has since lapsed; never Bharat NCAP tested
Is the A4 right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored
Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.
City Commuter
10–30 km a day through traffic
The S tronic gearbox and light steering make it easy in traffic, but a car this size and this close to the end of its run isn't the obvious daily commuter pick.
Highway Cruiser
ORR laps and expressway weekends
320 Nm and a genuinely comfortable long-travel suspension make it a relaxed expressway sedan, with enough refinement to not tire you out over a Hyderabad-to-Vizag run.
Family First
Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips
8 airbags and a 460-litre boot cover the basics, but there's no current Bharat NCAP score and no ADAS safety net for a family car at this price.
Driving Enthusiast
Cares how it steers, not just how it looks
The chassis is tuned for comfort over cornering, there's noticeable body roll, and FWD-only means it never quite rewards a keen driver.
First-Car Buyer
Budget-conscious and resale-aware
Luxury depreciation, a run-out model cycle and imported-parts servicing make this a poor first car regardless of the showroom discount.
Chauffeur-Driven Executive
Judged from the rear seat
3-zone climate, memory seats and a genuinely quiet cabin on the Premium Plus and Technology trims make it a believable chauffeur-driven sedan.
Weekend Explorer
Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads
160 mm ground clearance and road-biased tyres mean ghat roads and monsoon potholes need real care; it's a highway car, not a trail one.
Paint Protection
PPF for the Audi A4: What We Install and Why
Where it takes damage
The long flat bonnet and front bumper take the first expressway stone chips, the lower doors and sills sand-blast on ORR runs, and the darker metallic shades show dealer-wash swirl marks under raking light more readily than the lighter colours.
Our recommendation
Full-front AG1 film plus mirror caps is the sensible baseline given how exposed the bonnet and bumper are on highway trips; with production already wound down for this generation, we steer owners who plan to keep the car long-term toward full-body coverage to protect resale on a model that will only get harder to find new.
Coverage
Full front, bonnet and mirror caps as standard; add full body for Mythos Black and Manhattan Grey cars or for anyone keeping the car past the usual three-year cycle.
Audi A4 vs Camry

Lexus
ES

Rivals the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series and Audi A6.
FAQs
Audi A4: Questions Buyers Ask
Audi's official configurator lists the A4 from ₹46,88,000 (Premium 40 TFSI) to ₹55,83,000 (Technology 40 TFSI) ex-showroom as of 5 November 2026, across three variants — Premium, Premium Plus and Technology.
Premium Plus is the value pick — it adds the fully digital 12.3-inch driver display and wireless phone connectivity over the base Premium. Technology adds navigation, the Bang & Olufsen sound system and a kick-to-open tailgate, but at a meaningful premium for a car this close to the end of its run.
Audi India's brand director told Business Standard on 15 October 2026 that the A4 was available for only the first six-seven months of 2026 and that the A5 is its scheduled replacement. The car remained listed on Audi's configurator and Autocar India's price pages through late October 2026, so treat it as stock-dependent rather than freshly ordered.
All four sit close in price once you compare base trims. The A4's case is ride comfort and badge value at run-out pricing; the BMW 3 Series answers with rear-wheel drive and sharper handling, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class with a plusher cabin, and the (hybrid) Toyota Camry with far lower running costs and a longer production future. With the A4 near the end of its cycle, weigh resale and parts availability against the others before deciding.
No. The A4 holds a 5-star Euro NCAP rating from 2015 testing, but that rating expired under Euro NCAP's own revalidation rules on the newer protocol; it has never been crash-tested by Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP's India programme. Treat the 2015 score as historical, not current.
Its bonnet and front bumper are the first panels to pick up highway chips, and the lower doors sand-blast on ring-road runs, so a full-front film is the panel set we recommend protecting first on this car. Message Auto Grid on WhatsApp for a plan suited to your colour and usage.
Indicatively ₹56.55 lakh–₹69.84 lakh on-road in Hyderabad: ex-showroom ₹46.88 lakh–₹55.83 lakh (Delhi, 5 Nov 2026) plus Telangana life tax (18%–20%), first-year insurance and registration. Dealer quotes vary with insurance add-ons and accessories.
Audi's claimed figures: 2.0L TFSI turbo-petrol — 17.4 kmpl (ARAI claimed). Real-world figures depend on traffic, load and driving style.
The top variant is the Technology 40 TFSI (Petrol, 7-speed S tronic (DCT)) at ₹55.83 lakh ex-showroom Delhi; the base model is the Premium 40 TFSI (Petrol, 7-speed S tronic (DCT)) at ₹46.88 lakh. 3 variants in all, as of 5 Nov 2026.
Ground clearance 160 mm, boot space 460 litres, 5 seats, length 4762 mm (Audi official specification).
