Lexus ES — price 2026, specs, on-road price & review
The Lexus ES is Lexus India's only sedan and, since March 2026, its only fully electric model — the ES 500e (343hp, 580 km claimed range) sits alongside the ES 350h strong-hybrid (added July 2026) on a larger, locally-assembled eighth-generation body. Rivals the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series and Audi A6.

The Auto Grid Review
Lexus ES Review: Our Verdict
Lexus ES owners in Hyderabad book us for a very particular reason: this is a car bought to be driven in, not driven, and the finish has to look untouched from the back seat as much as the front. The eighth-gen car's taller, wider body and sealed-off nose mean the front bumper and the lower edge of those big flat doors take the brunt of ORR grit, and the connected LED light bar at the rear is a single, expensive-to-replace unit we treat with real caution during any correction. Lexus's paint and clear-coat quality is a clear step up from mainstream brands we see daily — fewer dealer-prep swirls, a harder finish — but the price of a respray or a bumper replacement on a locally-assembled Lexus is exactly why owners choose film over hoping for the best. The 500e's silence in the bay is notable: no engine noise to mask a stone-chip ping, so owners notice every one.
What we like
- +Genuine choice of strong-hybrid or 500 km-plus-range EV on the same nameplate
- +Locally assembled ES keeps pricing sharper than a fully-imported rival sedan
- +Mark Levinson audio and a properly isolated, spacious rear seat
- +Lexus's traditional reliability and dealer-care reputation
What we’d change
- –No Global NCAP or Bharat NCAP rating published for the India-spec ES
- –500e's 158 mm ground clearance is tight for Hyderabad's broken approach roads
- –Only one Lexus dealership network across Telangana, so service runs are planned events
- –No dated India waiting-period survey exists yet for either powertrain
Is the ES right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored
Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.
City Commuter
10–30 km a day through traffic
A 5.1-metre luxury sedan is composed in traffic but oversized and low-clearance for the city's rougher back lanes.
Highway Cruiser
ORR laps and expressway weekends
The 500e's silence and the 350h's refinement both make for an outstanding ORR cruiser, with adaptive cruise and lane-tracing assist doing real work.
Family First
Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips
Rear-seat space and comfort are excellent, but with no published crash-test score, safety-focused families may want a tested rival first.
Driving Enthusiast
Cares how it steers, not just how it looks
This is a comfort-first sedan, not a driver's car — the 500e's instant torque is its only enthusiast-pleasing trait.
First-Car Buyer
Budget-conscious and resale-aware
At ₹66 lakh and up, running costs and insurance alone put the ES well outside any realistic first-car budget.
Chauffeur-Driven Executive
Judged from the rear seat
This is exactly the brief the ES is built for — a quiet, cosseting rear seat, strong resale within the Lexus faithful, and a cabin that reads expensive without shouting.
Weekend Explorer
Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads
Low ground clearance and road-biased tyres rule it out for anything beyond a smooth highway weekend.
Paint Protection
PPF for the Lexus ES: What We Install and Why
Where it takes damage
The sealed-off front bumper and bonnet take the first ORR stone chips on this body style, and the single connected LED light bar at the rear is an expensive, hard-to-replace unit if it's ever scuffed while reversing into a tight Hyderabad car park.
Our recommendation
AG1 Square full body for a car bought to look untouched from the back seat; the rear light bar and the lower doors get reinforced coverage given their replacement cost.
Coverage
Full body standard, with focused reinforcement on the front bumper, bonnet and rear light bar.

FAQs
Lexus ES: Questions Buyers Ask
Lexus prices the ES from ₹66.10 lakh for the 350h Exquisite hybrid to ₹89.99 lakh for the all-electric 500e, ex-showroom, with a 350h Luxury hybrid in between at ₹71.80 lakh (as of November 2026).
Yes. The ES 500e, launched 20 March 2026, is Lexus India's first fully electric model — a 74.68 kWh battery with dual motors producing 343hp and a claimed 580 km range, alongside the 2.5-litre 350h strong-hybrid that continues to be sold.
From the installer bay, the eighth-generation ES stands out for a harder, higher-quality clear coat than most mainstream sedans and a genuinely isolated rear seat. The lack of a published crash-test score is the one honest gap next to tested German rivals.
Lexus raised ground clearance for the Indian market by 20mm over the global car, to 158mm on the ES 500e.
No Global NCAP or Bharat NCAP result has been published for the India-spec ES; Lexus's low India volumes mean most of its models go untested rather than rated poorly.
Both are badge-engineered on related Toyota platforms, but the ES is positioned well above the Camry on price, cabin materials and tech, and now offers a fully electric 500e option the Camry doesn't match.
Given the connected rear light bar's replacement cost and the sealed front bumper's exposure to highway chips, we recommend a full-body AG1 Square film rather than a partial package.
Indicatively ₹79.71 lakh–₹1.13 crore on-road in Hyderabad: ex-showroom ₹66.10 lakh–₹89.99 lakh (Delhi, 2 Nov 2026) plus Telangana life tax (18%–21%), first-year insurance and registration. Dealer quotes vary with insurance add-ons and accessories.
Lexus's claimed figures: 2.5L Dynamic Force strong-hybrid — 25.22 kmpl (ARAI); 500e dual-motor BEV — 580 km claimed. Real-world figures depend on traffic, load and driving style.
The top variant is the 500e (Electric, 1-speed automatic (AWD)) at ₹89.99 lakh ex-showroom Delhi; the base model is the 350h Exquisite (Hybrid, e-CVT) at ₹66.10 lakh. 3 variants in all, as of 2 Nov 2026.
ES: Mid-size luxury sedan, ₹66.10 lakh – ₹89.99 lakh ex-showroom, Hybrid/Electric, Auto Grid rating 4.3/5. Atto 3: Compact electric SUV, ₹24.99 lakh – ₹34.49 lakh ex-showroom, Electric, rated 3.9/5. See the BYD Atto 3 page for its full variant list and our verdict.
