The Auto Grid Review
Tata Tigor.ev Review: Our Verdict
The Tigor.ev at Kondapur is almost entirely a fleet car — airport shuttles and corporate cabs — with the occasional private XZ+ Lux in Magnetic Red. It is the old Tigor body with a painted EV nose and a charge flap, so the paint is thin on the roof and bonnet and the boot lid takes the same leaning abuse we described for the petrol Tigor. The EV’s extra weight shows on the rear springs and the rear bumper sits low enough to scrape on ramps. Fleet owners want the rear bumper top, the boot lid and the bonnet filmed because those are the three panels that cost them money; private owners usually ask for the bonnet and bumpers only. With the petrol Tigor gone, it is now the only sedan body in Tata’s range and we expect it to be replaced in time.
What we like
- +Only electric sedan in its price bracket with a 316 L boot
- +315 km certified range on a proven Ziptron pack
- +Cheap to run for fleets
- +Still sold with Tata’s EV warranty support
What we’d change
- –Thin roof and bonnet paint
- –Old platform; only two airbags
- –Rear bumper sits low and scrapes
- –Petrol sibling discontinued — likely to be replaced
Is the Tigor.ev right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored
Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.
City Commuter
10–30 km a day through traffic
Silent, compact and with a real boot; 315 km certified is ample for Hyderabad commuting.
Highway Cruiser
ORR laps and expressway weekends
55 kW and a 26 kWh pack make expressway runs slow and short; plan on charging before Vijayawada and keep to 90 km/h to protect range.
Family First
Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips
Only dual airbags and no ISOFIX listed on the current feed; the boot is the strong point.
Driving Enthusiast
Cares how it steers, not just how it looks
Nothing here for a keen driver: the regen is single-mode in feel, the steering is light and the chassis is tuned for cab duty.
First-Car Buyer
Budget-conscious and resale-aware
Low running cost and a sedan boot, but the Punch.ev offers more safety for similar money.
Chauffeur-Driven Executive
Judged from the rear seat
Adequate rear seat for a compact sedan with a usable armrest; it is a comfortable cab for airport runs, not a limousine.
Weekend Explorer
Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads
City car only: 172 mm clearance, a long rear overhang that scrapes on ramps and a 315 km certified range keep it off the ghats.
Paint Protection
PPF for the Tata Tigor.ev: What We Install and Why
Where it takes damage
Boot lid corners and rear bumper top from loading and leaning; low-sitting rear bumper scrapes; painted nose and charge flap scuff; thin roof paint fades.
Our recommendation
AG1 bonnet, bumpers and boot-lid strip for fleet and private owners alike; roof film for cars parked outdoors at airports.
Coverage
Bonnet, bumpers and boot strip; roof optional.
