The Auto Grid Review
Maruti Suzuki Victoris Review: Our Verdict
The Victoris has become the midsize SUV we see most in Kondapur after only a year, and it arrives in a very specific spec: ZXi+ strong hybrid or ZXi+ AT in Mystic Green, Eternal Blue or the Sizzling Red dual-tone, bought by an IT-corridor family that wanted the panoramic roof and the ADAS. The paint is the best Arena has done — deep metallic, even gaps, and far fewer dealer swirls than the hatchbacks — which is exactly why owners protect it. The nose is tall with a wide satin-chrome grille, a long bonnet and a lip that sits low; ORR stones chip the bumper and the bonnet edge first, and the silver skid plate scuffs on speed-breakers. The powered tailgate edge picks up luggage marks and the panoramic glass surround collects cover rub. The ADAS radar sits behind the front badge and the camera behind the mirror — both stay uncovered. The big, gently curved panels film cleanly.
What we like
- +5-star Bharat NCAP with the highest adult score of any Maruti
- +28.65 km/l strong hybrid and an underbody-tank CNG with a real boot
- +Level 2 ADAS, panoramic roof, HUD, ventilated and powered seats on the ZXi+
- +Deep metallic paint and tidy assembly
What we’d change
- –Tall nose and low lip chip first
- –ADAS limited to two ZXi+ AT variants
- –Capacity-constrained; waiting periods vary widely by city
Is the Victoris right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored
Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.
City Commuter
10–30 km a day through traffic
The strong hybrid creeps in EV mode through Gachibowli traffic and claims 28.65 km/l; the 360° camera and auto-hold make the size easy to manage.
Highway Cruiser
ORR laps and expressway weekends
Adaptive cruise with lane keep, a 45 L tank, a quiet cabin and a planted ride make it the best Maruti for Vijayawada or Bengaluru highway runs.
Family First
Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips
Five-star Bharat NCAP, six airbags, ISOFIX, rear vents, a wide rear bench and the powered tailgate — the family SUV in the Maruti range.
Driving Enthusiast
Cares how it steers, not just how it looks
Composed and quick to steer for its size, and the AllGrip AT adds traction, but 103 PS and comfort tyres keep it a cruiser.
First-Car Buyer
Budget-conscious and resale-aware
A big first car with big insurance; the LXi/VXi petrol is sensible, but the hatchbacks teach parking better.
Chauffeur-Driven Executive
Judged from the rear seat
The rear seat is wide with good legroom, rear vents and a calm hybrid drivetrain; the panoramic roof and ambient lighting make it a credible chauffeured car.
Weekend Explorer
Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads
AllGrip 4WD with terrain modes and hill descent, skid plates and good clearance handle ghats and dirt tracks; tyres are road-biased.
Paint Protection
PPF for the Maruti Suzuki Victoris: What We Install and Why
Where it takes damage
Front bumper, satin-chrome grille surround and bonnet leading edge chip first; the silver skid plate scuffs; powered-tailgate edge and panoramic-roof surround show luggage and cover marks.
Our recommendation
AG1 full-front cut around the radar badge and mirror camera is our standard Victoris package; AG1 Square full body on the Mystic Green, Eternal Blue and dual-tone ZXi+ cars whose owners bought the paint.
Coverage
Full front standard; add tailgate edge, roof-surround and rear-arch guards for family highway use, full body for the premium shades.
