The Auto Grid Review
Tata Tigor Review: Our Verdict
We still see Tigors at Kondapur every month, mostly 2022–2025 CNG cars coming in for a refresh or a resale tidy-up, and the pattern is always the same: a boot lid polished through at the corners from being leaned on, a rear bumper that has met a dozen scooters, and a roof and bonnet whose thin clear coat has gone matte under Hyderabad sun. The doors and quarter panels hold up well. Because the Aeris carries over the same body shell, everything we learned filming Tigors applies directly to the new car. For an owner keeping a Tigor, a bumper refresh and a bonnet film still make sense; the car is simple, cheap to run on CNG and the AMT is unfussy. It is no longer listed on tata.cars, so new-car buyers should look at the Aeris page.
What we like
- +Cheap to run, especially the iCNG
- +Simple, durable mechanicals shared with the Tiago
- +Proper 419 L sedan boot
What we’d change
- –Thin roof and bonnet paint fades
- –Boot lid and rear bumper scuff
- –Discontinued — no new stock
- –Only dual airbags on older variants
Is the Tigor right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored
Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.
City Commuter
10–30 km a day through traffic
Used Tigor CNG AMTs are among the cheapest automatic commuters in Hyderabad and the compact footprint parks anywhere.
Highway Cruiser
ORR laps and expressway weekends
86 PS and a short wheelbase make it a reluctant highway car; it cruises at 90–100 km/h but overtakes need planning on the NH-65.
Family First
Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips
Later cars gained six airbags and ISOFIX; the boot is big, the rear seat adequate for two adults.
Driving Enthusiast
Cares how it steers, not just how it looks
Nothing for a keen driver here: the engine is modest, the AMT is slow and the chassis is set up for comfort and economy.
First-Car Buyer
Budget-conscious and resale-aware
As a used buy it is a sensible, low-cost first sedan with cheap parts and a wide service network.
Chauffeur-Driven Executive
Judged from the rear seat
Not a rear-seat car: the back bench is fine for two on a short hop but refinement and ride polish are entry-level.
Weekend Explorer
Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads
Tarmac only; the rear overhang scrapes on broken tracks and the 170 mm clearance is meant for city speed breakers, not ghats.
Paint Protection
PPF for the Tata Tigor: What We Install and Why
Where it takes damage
Boot lid corners and rear bumper from leaning and two-wheeler contact; roof and bonnet clear coat fades under sun; front bumper corners from parallel parking.
Our recommendation
For owners keeping a Tigor, an AG1 bonnet-and-bumpers package with a boot-lid strip after a paint correction; full front is rarely justified on an older car unless the paint is still good.
Coverage
Bonnet, bumpers and boot strip; roof film optional for cars parked outdoors.

If the paint is still in good condition, a bonnet-and-bumpers AG1 package after a correction keeps a Tigor presentable; we would not film a faded roof without repainting first. Ask Auto Grid on WhatsApp for an inspection.
