Where it takes damage
Toyota's prototype has a square cabin with flat flanks, removable segmented corner bumpers and a tailgate-mounted spare — the kind of upright body that takes stone spray on the bonnet edge and trail scratches along the doors; India-spec panels and finishes are not yet published.

We will specify an AG1 grade once Toyota publishes India specifications and colours; on an IMV-based off-roader the pattern will follow the Fortuner — full front for road users, AG1 Square full body for owners who take it on trails.

Toyota Land Cruiser FJ: Questions Buyers Ask
Toyota confirmed at the Japan Mobility Show in October 2025 that the FJ is India-bound and will be manufactured here; Autocar India reports a late-2028 launch, with production expected to start in August 2028 at Toyota's new Maharashtra plant. Toyota Kirloskar Motor has not announced a date or prices.
Toyota's global prototype uses a 2.7-litre 2TR-FE petrol with 120 kW (163 PS) and 246 Nm, a 6-speed automatic and part-time 4WD; reports suggest strong-hybrid and plug-in options may follow for India, with no diesel planned.
The prototype measures 4,575 mm long, 1,855 mm wide and 1,960 mm tall on a 2,580 mm wheelbase — 270 mm shorter in wheelbase than the Land Cruiser 250 — with five seats and a 5.5 m turning radius.
An upright, square-bodied off-roader with removable corner bumpers will take stone spray and trail scratches like a Fortuner does, so we expect a full-front package as the baseline and full body for trail users; we will publish an AG1 plan once Toyota releases India specifications.
