Porsche Macan — price 2026, specs, review & review

The Porsche Macan is the brand's compact luxury SUV. India now sells it as a single 2.0-litre turbo-petrol trim making 265 PS through a PDK automatic and all-wheel drive, after Porsche discontinued the higher-output Macan S and Macan GTS petrol variants in 2025 ahead of the Macan line's global shift to electric-only. A separate electric twin, the Macan Electric, is catalogued on its own page.

The Auto Grid Review

Porsche Macan Review: Our Verdict

4.0/ 5 · Auto Grid Editorial

The Macan is the Porsche we see most often at the Kondapur bay, if 'often' is the right word for a car this rare — a handful a year, not a handful a month. Buyers who spec one of the paint-to-sample metallics care intensely about swirl marks, and the alloys pick up rash from Hyderabad's ORR service-road edges faster than the chassis deserves. The bonnet's shallow angle and the sideblades on the flanks are the first things to chip on a highway stone-strike; the plastic wheel-arch cladding holds up better than the painted sills behind it. It is an easy car to correct — big, simple panels, no complex creases — but every owner expects a finish that matches the price, so we spend more time on prep than on a mainstream SUV, and we are candid that this is now the only petrol Macan India gets.

What we like

  • +Porsche steering feel and body control in a usable daily SUV
  • +Strong resale within Hyderabad's small used-Porsche circle
  • +All-wheel drive and 202 mm clearance cope with broken service roads

What we’d change

  • –At least a 6-month wait brand-wide as a fully-imported car
  • –Only one petrol trim left in India — the S and GTS are gone
  • –Service and parts costs well above mainstream luxury SUVs
  • –No published Global NCAP or Bharat NCAP crash-test rating for the India car

Is the Macan right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored

Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.

City Commuter

10–30 km a day through traffic

Easy enough to drive in Hyderabad traffic, with light steering and a tight turning circle, but it is an expensive, overqualified way to do a daily commute.

Highway Cruiser

ORR laps and expressway weekends

The 2.0 turbo-petrol and PDK gearbox are genuinely at home on the ORR and the Hyderabad–Bengaluru highway, with a chassis that stays composed well past city speeds.

Family First

Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips

Four adults travel well and the boot is usable, but with no published NCAP or Bharat NCAP rating for the India car, family buyers should ask Porsche directly for crash-test data.

Driving Enthusiast

Cares how it steers, not just how it looks

This is the reason to pick a Macan over a rival SUV — the steering weight, body control and brake feel are a clear step above most compact luxury SUVs at this price.

First-Car Buyer

Budget-conscious and resale-aware

Not a sensible first car on purchase cost, insurance or running expense, even before the badge premium is considered.

Chauffeur-Driven Executive

Judged from the rear seat

Rear seat space is adequate rather than generous for chauffeur duty; buyers who want rear-seat luxury at this price usually look at the Panamera or a German limousine instead.

Weekend Explorer

Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads

All-wheel drive and 202 mm clearance handle dirt tracks and monsoon ruts better than most luxury SUVs, though owners rarely take a car this expensive off tarmac.

Paint Protection

PPF for the Porsche Macan: What We Install and Why

Where it takes damage

The shallow bonnet and front bumper take the first stone chips on the ORR; the sideblades on the flanks and the lower doors behind the front wheels pick up scuffs from kerbs and gravel driveways; paint-to-sample metallic colours show dealer-prep swirl marks more readily than solid shades.

Our recommendation

AG1 full-front coverage with the sideblades and front door edges wrapped as standard on every Macan that comes in; owners who specced a paint-to-sample metallic are steered toward full-body coverage to protect the finish long-term.

Coverage

Full front, bonnet and sideblades as the baseline; full body for paint-to-sample and launch-colour cars.

FAQs

Porsche Macan: Questions Buyers Ask

Porsche's own India configurator lists the Macan from ₹91,09,000 ex-showroom as of 3 November 2026, for the single remaining 2.0-litre petrol trim. On-road price adds state registration, road tax and insurance on top of this ex-showroom figure, and varies by city.

Porsche withdrew the higher-output Macan S and Macan GTS petrol trims from India in 2025, leaving only the base 2.0-litre petrol on sale. Globally, Porsche is winding down combustion Macan production by mid-2026 as the nameplate shifts to the electric-only Macan Electric; a petrol/hybrid successor isn't expected before 2028.

No official Global NCAP or Bharat NCAP crash-test result has been published for the India-spec Macan — it is a low-volume CBU import and hasn't been through either programme's testing. Ask Porsche India directly if a crash-test rating matters to your decision.

Porsche India's Head, Ashutosh Dixit, said on 30 September 2026 that every Porsche sold in India is fully imported and the brand-wide wait is at least six months, stretching to around a year for heavily customised orders — this isn't a Macan-specific figure, but it is the brand's own on-record line on delivery timelines.

They're both petrol Porsche SUVs but sit a size and a price bracket apart: the Macan is the smaller, sharper-handling compact SUV at ₹91.09 lakh ex-showroom, while the Cayenne is the larger, roomier full-size SUV starting well above ₹1.5 crore. Buyers cross-shopping both usually pick the Macan for daily driving feel and the Cayenne for outright space and presence.

As a driver's compact SUV it's one of the best in its class — the steering, brakes and chassis balance are a clear step up on mainstream luxury SUV rivals. The honest caveats: only one petrol trim is left in India, service costs are well above a BMW X3 or Mercedes-Benz GLC, and there's no published Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP rating for the India car.

There's only one petrol trim left to choose in India — the base 2.0-litre turbo-petrol at ₹91.09 lakh ex-showroom — since Porsche withdrew the Macan S and Macan GTS petrol variants in 2025. Buyers wanting more power or an electric drivetrain should look at the separately catalogued Macan Electric, 4S Electric or Turbo Electric.

With only the base 2.0-litre petrol still sold in India, there's nothing to compare it against locally — the previously-offered S and GTS petrol trims (withdrawn in 2025) aren't an active choice any more. As with any Porsche, reliability in Indian conditions comes down to sticking to Porsche's authorised service schedule rather than a stretched one.

The electric twin — catalogued separately as the Macan Electric — starts well above the petrol Macan's ₹91.09 lakh; see its own page for exact Macan Electric, 4S Electric and Turbo Electric ex-showroom prices.

Yes — its bonnet, front bumper and the sideblades on the flanks take the first stone chips, and metallic paint-to-sample finishes show prep swirls easily, so a full-front AG1 film is our standard recommendation. Message Auto Grid on WhatsApp for a plan for your colour and trim.

Indicatively ₹1.10 crore–₹1.14 crore on-road in Hyderabad: ex-showroom ₹91.09 lakh (Delhi, 3 Nov 2026) plus Telangana life tax (18%–21%), first-year insurance and registration. Dealer quotes vary with insurance add-ons and accessories.

Porsche's claimed figures: 2.0L turbo-petrol — ~10–11.4 kmpl ARAI (third-party aggregator figures — Porsche India does not publish a mileage figure on its own site). Real-world figures depend on traffic, load and driving style.

Macan: Compact luxury SUV, ₹91.09 lakh ex-showroom, Petrol, Auto Grid rating 4.0/5. XC60: Mid-size luxury SUV, ₹70.90 lakh ex-showroom, Petrol (Mild Hybrid, 48V), rated 4.2/5. See the Volvo XC60 page for its full variant list and our verdict.

Ground clearance 202 mm, boot space 488 litres, 5 seats, length 4726 mm (Porsche official specification).
