The Auto Grid Review
Porsche Panamera Review: Our Verdict
A Panamera comes into the Kondapur bay a handful of times a year, and every one of those visits is treated as an event — this is the most expensive single paint job most of our installers will handle in a given month. The long bonnet and the sculpted front fenders are the panels most exposed on the ORR and on the Shamshabad airport run, which is where most Hyderabad Panameras actually rack up their kilometres; the shallow front splitter area is the first thing to graze on a steep driveway or a speed breaker taken too fast. The cabin is genuinely a sports car for four, and the car is as composed at 150 km/h as it is crawling through Jubilee Hills traffic, but it demands a level of paint prep and film precision that a mainstream sedan simply doesn't.
What we like
- +Four-seat luxury cabin with genuine sports-car chassis balance
- +8-speed PDK is seamless in traffic and decisive on the highway
- +Porsche's badge and service network carry real resale weight at this price point
What we’d change
- –India currently gets only the base V6 trim — no 4S, GTS or Turbo on the official configurator
- –At least a 6-month wait brand-wide as a fully-imported car
- –Ground clearance and the front splitter demand care on Indian driveways and speed breakers
- –No published Global NCAP or Bharat NCAP crash-test rating for the India car
Is the Panamera right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored
Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.
City Commuter
10–30 km a day through traffic
Far more car and far more cost than a daily Hyderabad commute needs; the Panamera is bought for what it represents, not for the school run.
Highway Cruiser
ORR laps and expressway weekends
This is where the Panamera makes the most sense in India — long, fast stretches like the ORR or the Hyderabad–Bengaluru highway let the chassis and the 353 PS V6 show what they're built for.
Family First
Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips
Four adults travel in real comfort and the 494-litre boot is usable, but it's strictly a 4-seater and there's no published India crash-test rating to point to.
Driving Enthusiast
Cares how it steers, not just how it looks
A four-door Porsche that still drives like one — steering weight, body control and the PDK's shift logic are the reasons this car exists at all.
First-Car Buyer
Budget-conscious and resale-aware
Not remotely a first car on cost, insurance, service network access or day-to-day running expense — this is a second or third car, bought on reputation.
Chauffeur-Driven Executive
Judged from the rear seat
Strong for an owner-driver executive who still wants to drive themselves; a chauffeur-driven buyer wanting outright rear-seat space usually looks at a Mercedes-Benz S-Class or BMW 7 Series instead.
Weekend Explorer
Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads
A low-slung performance sedan with no SUV pretensions — not built for anything beyond good tarmac.
Paint Protection
PPF for the Porsche Panamera: What We Install and Why
Where it takes damage
The long bonnet and sculpted front fenders take the brunt of highway stone chips on the ORR and the airport run; the shallow front splitter area grazes on steep driveways and speed breakers; dark metallics show swirl marks from dealer prep readily.
Our recommendation
AG1 full-front coverage including the splitter area as standard on every Panamera that comes in, with full-body coverage recommended for dark metallic and launch-colour cars given the resale stakes at this price.
Coverage
Full front and splitter as the baseline; full body for dark metallics and special-order colours.

FAQs
Porsche Panamera: Questions Buyers Ask
Porsche's own India configurator lists the Panamera from ₹1,79,12,000 ex-showroom as of 3 November 2026, for the single V6 biturbo-petrol trim currently shown. On-road price adds state registration, road tax and insurance, and varies by city.
As of 3 November 2026, Porsche's own India configurator lists only the base 2.9-litre V6 Panamera. Higher trims such as the GTS, Turbo and E-Hybrid have been sold in India in the past and are offered in other markets, but we could not confirm any of them as currently orderable on Porsche's own site — check with a Porsche India dealer for current availability.
Porsche India's Head, Ashutosh Dixit, said on 30 September 2026 that every Porsche sold in India is fully imported and the brand-wide wait is at least six months, stretching to around a year for heavily customised orders — this isn't a Panamera-specific figure, but it is the brand's own on-record line on delivery timelines.
No official Global NCAP or Bharat NCAP crash-test result has been published for the India-spec Panamera — it is a low-volume CBU import and hasn't been through either programme's testing.
As a four-seat sedan that still drives like a sports car, yes — the chassis balance, steering and PDK gearbox are genuinely special. The honest caveats: India's official configurator currently shows only the base V6 trim, there's no published Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP rating, and running costs sit well above a Mercedes-Benz S-Class or BMW 7 Series.
The Panamera is the petrol V6 four-door with a traditional engine note and a longer range between fuel stops on long highway runs; the Taycan is Porsche's fully electric sports saloon, quicker off the line and cheaper to run per kilometre but dependent on charging infrastructure. Buyers who do long intercity drives in India without reliable fast-charging along the route tend to still pick the Panamera.
There's no independent reliability survey specific to the India-spec Panamera. Porsche's authorised service network here is small but well-trained, and routine maintenance and parts costs are substantially higher than for a mainstream luxury sedan — budget for that rather than for frequent breakdowns.
They share a badge and not much else: the Panamera is a low, four-seat sports saloon built for driving feel and long-distance comfort, while the Cayenne is a full-size SUV built for space, ride height and practicality, and is also sold as the all-electric Cayenne Electric. Buyers who want a car to drive themselves pick the Panamera; buyers who need SUV space or a chauffeur-friendly ride pick the Cayenne.
Yes — the long bonnet, sculpted front fenders and the front splitter take the first stone chips and kerb grazes, so a full-front AG1 film with splitter coverage is our standard recommendation. Message Auto Grid on WhatsApp for a plan for your colour and trim.
Indicatively ₹2.16 crore–₹2.24 crore on-road in Hyderabad: ex-showroom ₹1.79 crore (Delhi, 3 Nov 2026) plus Telangana life tax (18%–21%), first-year insurance and registration. Dealer quotes vary with insurance add-ons and accessories.
Porsche's claimed figures: 2.9L V6 biturbo-petrol — ~9–11 kmpl ARAI (third-party aggregator figures — Porsche India does not publish a mileage figure on its own site). Real-world figures depend on traffic, load and driving style.
Panamera: Luxury performance sedan, ₹1.79 crore ex-showroom, Petrol, Auto Grid rating 4.1/5. 911: Rear-engined luxury sports car, ₹2.11 crore – ₹3.82 crore ex-showroom, Petrol/Petrol (mild hybrid assist, not plug-in), rated 4.6/5. See the Porsche 911 page for its full variant list and our verdict.
Ground clearance 134 mm, boot space 494 litres, 4 seats, length 5049 mm (Porsche official specification).
