The Auto Grid Review
Nissan Gravite Review: Our Verdict
The Gravite is the car that walks into our Kondapur bay looking almost identical to the Triber it's built alongside, and the two cars share more than a platform — the same soft-touch bumper plastic that marks under fingernails, the same flat bonnet that stone-chips first on ORR runs, and the same budget clear coat that shows dealer-buff swirls under our inspection lamps on Storm White and Blade Silver cars. Where it differs is the badge and the price point it's pitched at: most Gravite owners we see are first-time buyers stretching to a 7-seater on a tight budget, and the car's unique LED tail-lamp cluster and C-shaped front graphics are the panels they ask us to protect first, since they're the most visibly 'new' thing about an otherwise familiar silhouette. The removable third row means we see it both as a full 7-seater and, on fleet and cargo-duty cars, with the back row pulled and a lot more boot-lid wear from loading.
What we like
- +India's cheapest 7-seater MPV with genuine 3-row flexibility
- +6 airbags, ESC and TPMS standard on every variant, unusual at this price
- +Removable, 50:50-split third row for a 625 L cargo mode
- +Segment-best extendable warranty, up to 10 years/2,00,000 km
What we’d change
- –Not yet crash-tested by Global NCAP or Bharat NCAP as of November 2026
- –Only a single 72 PS petrol engine, no diesel or turbo option
- –Interior plastics and switchgear feel built to a tight budget
- –No ADAS, sunroof or automatic climate below the Tekna trim
Is the Gravite right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored
Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.
City Commuter
10–30 km a day through traffic
Light at 988 kg kerb weight and easy to place in traffic, but a basic 5-speed manual or AMT with no turbo means it feels strained carrying a full load of seven in the city.
Highway Cruiser
ORR laps and expressway weekends
72 PS and 96 Nm run out of breath well before 100 km/h with passengers aboard; it's a car built for short family hops, not long expressway stints.
Family First
Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips
The genuine draw: three real rows, ISOFIX-ready seating and a 625 L cargo mode with the third row out, all at India's lowest 7-seater entry price — though the lack of a crash-test score is worth weighing.
Driving Enthusiast
Cares how it steers, not just how it looks
A naturally-aspirated 1.0-litre with a tall body and a soft budget chassis has nothing to offer anyone who cares how a car drives.
First-Car Buyer
Budget-conscious and resale-aware
The cheapest way into a 7-seater, a simple engine to maintain, and Nissan's extendable warranty eases the biggest first-car worry: repair bills down the line.
Chauffeur-Driven Executive
Judged from the rear seat
Budget cabin materials and a basic ride mean this is not a car built for the rear seat of a chauffeur-driven buyer.
Weekend Explorer
Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads
182 mm ground clearance clears potholes well for the class, but there's no AWD and the 72 PS engine labours on loaded hill climbs.
Paint Protection
PPF for the Nissan Gravite: What We Install and Why
Where it takes damage
The flat bonnet and front bumper take the first stone chips on ORR and highway stretches, and the unique LED tail-lamp cluster and rear bumper graphics — the Gravite's main visual distinction from the Triber — mark up quickly on budget-grade paint.
Our recommendation
AG1 full-front film for commuter buyers; add the rear bumper and tail-lamp surround for owners who want the Gravite's distinguishing styling cues to stay sharp longer.
Coverage
Full front standard; extend to the rear bumper and boot edge for families doing frequent loading with the third row removed.

FAQs
Nissan Gravite: Questions Buyers Ask
Nissan lists the Gravite from ₹5,73,400 (Visia MT) to ₹9,08,500 (Tekna Launch Edition EZ Shift), ex-showroom, on nissan.in's official price list as of 7 November 2026.
Seven, across three rows, with a 50:50-split third row that can be fully removed to free up cargo space — Nissan's official site and brochure both describe over 150 seating/storage configurations.
Nissan's own site states an official ARAI mileage of 19.3 km/l (manual) to 19.6 km/l (EZ-Shift AMT) on petrol, and 19.3 km/kg on the dealer-fit CNG kit.
From our installer-bay view, yes for the price point: it has 6 airbags, ESC and a removable third row at India's lowest 7-seater entry cost, and shares its structure with the Renault Triber. The honest caveat is that neither the Gravite nor the Triber has an official Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP crash-test score as of November 2026 — treat any star-rating estimate circulating online as unconfirmed.
They share the same CMF-A+ platform, engine and dimensions. The Gravite gets its own front and rear design, unique LED signatures and Nissan's own trim names and features (its N-Connecta and Tekna trims roughly mirror the Triber's higher variants); choose based on dealer network, pricing on the day and which styling you prefer.
Aggregator listings in November 2026 report under a month across most variants; there has been no reported long backlog since its February 2026 launch, unlike some newly launched Nissan models.
They aren't really cross-shopped on size: the Ertiga is a bigger, pricier (from roughly ₹9 lakh) MPV with a proven 1.5-litre engine and a stronger used-car resale record, while the Gravite undercuts it by over ₹3 lakh as a sub-4-metre budget 7-seater. Choose the Gravite for the lowest entry cost into seven seats; choose the Ertiga if budget allows and you want a larger, more established family MPV.
They're different vehicle types from the same brand: the Magnite is a 5-seat sub-4-metre SUV with a stronger turbo-petrol option and CVT choice, while the Gravite is a 7-seat MPV built for passenger count over road presence. Pick the Magnite for SUV styling and a punchier engine; pick the Gravite if you need the third row.
Its flat bonnet and front bumper are the panels we see chipped most often, and the budget clear coat shows dealer-buff swirls easily, so a full-front AG1 film is our standard recommendation. Message Auto Grid on WhatsApp for a plan.
Indicatively ₹6.73 lakh–₹10.78 lakh on-road in Hyderabad: ex-showroom ₹5.73 lakh–₹9.09 lakh (Delhi, 7 Nov 2026) plus Telangana life tax (14%), first-year insurance and registration. Dealer quotes vary with insurance add-ons and accessories.
The top variant is the Tekna Launch Edition EZ Shift (Petrol, 5-speed AMT) at ₹9.09 lakh ex-showroom Delhi; the base model is the Visia MT (Petrol, 5-speed MT) at ₹5.73 lakh. 8 variants in all, as of 7 Nov 2026.
