The Auto Grid Review
MINI Countryman Electric Review: Our Verdict
The electric Countryman is the MINI we see least often — low volumes at a ₹58-71 lakh price mean we service only a handful a year — but each one has shown the same tight, imported build quality as the Cooper S. The taller, heavier EV body means the front bumper and the wide wheel arches take more stone-chip damage on Hyderabad's broken approach roads than the lighter Cooper S, and the JCW SE ALL4's Legend Grey and Midnight Black finish shows dealer-prep swirl under our lamps. The elevated seating position and the flat floor make the cabin genuinely spacious for the segment, and the glass roof's full length means we always quote it as part of the film job rather than an afterthought.
What we like
- +Genuinely practical, elevated cabin with a 460-1,450-litre boot
- +462 km WLTP range on the base Countryman E is competitive for the segment
- +SE ALL4's 313 PS dual-motor setup is properly quick for a family SUV
- +Strong standard kit list across every trim, including a full driver-assist suite
What we’d change
- –₹58-71 lakh positions it above most rivals' electric SUV range
- –SE ALL4's AWD system is restricted to just two colours (Legend Grey, Midnight Black)
- –MINI India's dealer and service network remains thin outside the metros
- –No Bharat NCAP result published for the India-spec electric Countryman as of this run
Is the Countryman Electric right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored
Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.
City Commuter
10–30 km a day through traffic
Easy to place despite its size thanks to the raised seating position and tight turning circle, and the 462 km WLTP range comfortably covers a week of Hyderabad commuting.
Highway Cruiser
ORR laps and expressway weekends
The SE ALL4's AWD and 494 Nm make it a confident, quick expressway car, though route-plan fast chargers given MINI's limited India charging partnerships.
Family First
Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips
The flat floor, elevated seating and genuinely usable boot make this the practical electric MINI; the SE ALL4's 8 airbags add further reassurance.
Driving Enthusiast
Cares how it steers, not just how it looks
The SE ALL4's 313 PS and AWD grip bring real pace, and MINI has kept enough steering feel to make it fun despite the taller EV body.
First-Car Buyer
Budget-conscious and resale-aware
At ₹58-71 lakh this is squarely a second or third car, not a first purchase for most Indian buyers.
Chauffeur-Driven Executive
Judged from the rear seat
The elevated seating and genuine rear space make it a credible chauffeured option, and the near-silent electric drivetrain suits an executive brief well.
Weekend Explorer
Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads
Trail Mode and ALL4 traction on the SE help on broken ghat roads, but it remains a road-biased crossover rather than an off-roader.
Paint Protection
PPF for the MINI Countryman Electric: What We Install and Why
Where it takes damage
The front bumper and the wide wheel arches take the heaviest stone-chip damage on Hyderabad's broken approach roads, given the EV's taller, heavier body; the SE ALL4's Legend Grey and Midnight Black finishes show dealer-prep swirl under inspection light fastest.
Our recommendation
AG1 full-front with wheel-arch and mirror-cap protection for every electric Countryman; full-body AG1 Square for SE ALL4 buyers given the car's exclusive two-colour palette and performance positioning.
Coverage
Full front and wheel-arch guards standard; add the full-length glass-roof header and rear quarter panels for cars kept outdoors daily.

FAQs
MINI Countryman Electric: Questions Buyers Ask
The all-electric Countryman is priced from ₹58.47 lakh (Essential) to ₹71.25 lakh (SE ALL4 John Cooper Works) ex-showroom, per Autocar India's listing updated 9 October 2026.
The base Countryman E claims up to 462 km on the WLTP cycle; the dual-motor SE ALL4 claims 433-440 km WLTP, trading some range for all-wheel drive and 313 PS.
It is a genuinely spacious, well-equipped electric SUV with strong performance in SE ALL4 form, but the price sits well above mainstream electric SUV rivals and MINI's India service network is thinner than established brands — it suits a buyer prioritising badge and driving feel over outright value.
No — they are sold as separate nameplates in this catalogue. The Countryman C is a locally assembled 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol from ₹47.50 lakh, while the Countryman Electric is a CBU-imported EV from ₹58.47 lakh with a different, taller body in its all-wheel-drive SE ALL4 form.
The Model Y offers more range (up to 681 km WLTP on the Model Y L) and Tesla's Supercharger network; the Countryman Electric counters with a lower entry price, MINI's go-kart handling character and, in SE ALL4 form, genuinely strong performance for less money.
The EX30 is smaller, cheaper and Volvo-safety-focused; the Countryman Electric is roomier, offers the SE ALL4's 313 PS dual-motor AWD option, and carries MINI's distinct go-kart driving character that the EX30 does not try to replicate.
Yes — the MINI Countryman Electric is sold alongside the petrol Countryman C as a separate nameplate in India, offered in Essential, Classic Pack and Favoured Pack single-motor trims plus the performance-focused dual-motor SE ALL4.
Yes — its wide wheel arches and front bumper take the first stone chips given the EV's extra weight, so we recommend a full-front AG1 package with wheel-arch protection as the baseline.
Indicatively ₹59.98 lakh–₹74.15 lakh on-road in Hyderabad: ex-showroom ₹58.47 lakh–₹71.25 lakh (Delhi, 9 Oct 2026) plus Telangana life tax (0% (EV exemption)), first-year insurance and registration. EVs pay no road tax or registration fee in Telangana until 31 December 2026. Dealer quotes vary with insurance add-ons and accessories.
The top variant is the SE ALL4 (John Cooper Works) (Electric, Single-speed automatic, dual-motor AWD) at ₹71.25 lakh ex-showroom Delhi; the base model is the Essential (Electric, Single-speed automatic) at ₹58.47 lakh. 4 variants in all, as of 9 Oct 2026.
Countryman Electric: Premium electric compact SUV, ₹58.47 lakh – ₹71.25 lakh ex-showroom, Electric, Auto Grid rating 4.0/5. Atto 3: Compact electric SUV, ₹24.99 lakh – ₹34.49 lakh ex-showroom, Electric, rated 3.9/5. See the BYD Atto 3 page for its full variant list and our verdict.
