The locally assembled Countryman C is the newest MINI through our Kondapur bay, and the Chennai build quality has matched the CBU Cooper S so far rather than falling short of it, which is the question every India-made premium car gets asked. Its best-in-segment height and 190 mm ground clearance handle broken Hyderabad roads with far less drama than the lower Cooper S, and the flush door handles are again the first thing to swirl under a dealer's automated wash. The 505-litre boot and the squared-off tailgate make it a straightforward car to film, and the single Favoured trim means every customer gets the same full kit list, which simplifies our PPF conversation considerably.
