The Auto Grid Review

Audi e-tron GT Review: Our Verdict

4.1/ 5 · Auto Grid Editorial

Audi quietly pulled the e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT from its India website through April 2026, and formally discontinued the range on 3 May 2026 — so the handful we still see now are owners booking an annual PPF top-up or getting pre-sale correction done before a resale listing. The GT's long, low bonnet and the wide sill behind the front wheel arch are the two panels every single car we've filmed has needed corrected: the bonnet because stone chips travel straight up that near-horizontal surface at speed, the sill because the J1 platform sits so low that speed breakers scrape it on a near-weekly basis in Hyderabad. RS cars arrive with red brake calipers that owners want protected from brake-dust etching, and the wide rear wheel-arch cladding is a magnet for kerb rash given how wide the rear track is.

What we like

  • +Properly quick in a straight line — RS does 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds
  • +800V architecture meant genuinely fast DC charging, 5-80% in about 22.5 minutes
  • +Shares its J1 platform and chassis tuning with the Porsche Taycan
  • +Low-slung Gran Turismo styling still turns heads years after launch

What we’d change

  • –Discontinued in India since 3 May 2026 — no new units on sale
  • –Low nose and wide sills scrape on speed breakers more than an SUV would
  • –Only a 405-litre boot plus a small frunk limits it as a daily family car
  • –Audi's facelifted e-tron GT hasn't launched in India yet to replace it

Is the e-tron GT right for you? Seven driver personalities, scored

Find the row that sounds like your driving life — that is the verdict that matters for you.

City Commuter

10–30 km a day through traffic

A 2900mm-wheelbase sedan that sits this low is the wrong tool for Hyderabad's speed breakers and potholes; this was never meant to be a daily commuter car, and it's not for sale here anymore anyway.

Highway Cruiser

ORR laps and expressway weekends

Adaptive air suspension, a 500km WLTP range and silent 800V charging stops make this one of the best long-distance electric GTs we've seen, ideal for a Hyderabad-to-Bengaluru blast.

Family First

Four or five aboard, school runs to road trips

Four adults fit, but the low roofline, tight rear headroom and a genuinely small 405-litre boot mean most families outgrow it quickly; look at the Q8 e-tron instead for the same running gear.

Driving Enthusiast

Cares how it steers, not just how it looks

The RS variant's 830Nm, rear differential lock and low centre of gravity make it the most genuinely engaging EV we've driven in this price bracket, with real steering feedback for an electric car.

First-Car Buyer

Budget-conscious and resale-aware

A discontinued, nearly two-crore CBU import with a thin service network is about as far from a sensible first car as the Indian market gets.

Chauffeur-Driven Executive

Judged from the rear seat

The rear seat is sportier than spacious, so a chauffeur-driven buyer gets less legroom than an A8 or Q8 e-tron would offer for similar money.

Weekend Explorer

Ghats, dirt tracks and monsoon roads

Low ground clearance, a scrape-prone front splitter and road-focused tyres make this the last car we'd point at a ghat road or a monsoon weekend drive.

Paint Protection

PPF for the Audi e-tron GT: What We Install and Why

Where it takes damage

The near-horizontal bonnet takes stone chips travelling straight up at speed, the front splitter and the sill panel behind the front wheel scrape on every tall speed breaker given how low the J1 platform sits, and the RS's red brake calipers need protecting from brake-dust etching behind the open-spoke wheels.

Our recommendation

AG1 full-front plus a sacrificial splitter and sill strip is the minimum we fit on this car; full-body AG1 Square for any RS kept for resale, since buyers scrutinise paint on a performance EV harder than on a regular sedan.

Coverage

Full front, front splitter, sills and rocker panels as standard; add the rear diffuser and wheel-arch edges on RS cars with the red calipers.

FAQs

Audi e-tron GT: Questions Buyers Ask

No. Audi India delisted the RS e-tron GT from its website around April 2026 (HT Auto, 23 Apr 2026) and formally discontinued the e-tron GT range on 3 May 2026 (ZigWheels; CarDekho); as of November 2026 Audi sells no electric car in India (Autocar India).

Last listed ex-showroom prices were ₹1.72 crore for the e-tron GT quattro and ₹1.95 crore for the RS e-tron GT quattro (CarDekho; Team-BHP, last recorded 2026).

Audi's WLTP range was up to 500 km for the e-tron GT quattro and 481 km for the RS e-tron GT quattro; the RS does 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds against the standard car's 4.1 seconds.

Yes — the low nose and front splitter take the brunt of stone chips and speed-breaker scrapes on this car more than on any SUV we service, so a full-front film with a splitter and sill strip is standard on every e-tron GT that comes through our bay. Message Auto Grid on WhatsApp for a plan for yours.

Both share Audi and Porsche's joint J1 platform and 800V architecture, so the mechanicals are close. The Taycan leans sharper and more playful at the limit; the e-tron GT is the more relaxed, GT-focused tune of the same hardware. Both are now hard to buy new in India — check current Porsche Taycan availability before comparing on price.

On paper the Tesla Model S Plaid's tri-motor setup beats the RS e-tron GT's 3.3-second 0-100 km/h claim, but the e-tron GT's 800V architecture charges faster on Indian DC networks and its chassis tuning is the more GT-like of the two. Neither was officially retailed new in India through Tesla's or Audi's own channel as of November 2026.

Before Audi India discontinued the range on 3 May 2026, the e-tron GT quattro was last listed at ₹1.72 crore and the RS e-tron GT quattro at ₹1.95 crore, both ex-showroom.

The top variant is the RS e-tron GT quattro (Electric, 2-speed automatic, quattro AWD) at ₹1.95 crore ex-showroom New Delhi; the base model is the e-tron GT quattro (Electric, 1-speed automatic, quattro AWD) at ₹1.72 crore. 2 variants in all, as of 5 Nov 2026.

e-tron GT: Full-size luxury electric performance sedan, ₹1.72 crore – ₹1.95 crore ex-showroom, Electric, Auto Grid rating 4.1/5. Vision.S: Muscular midsize SUV (NU_IQ platform concept), Price not announced ex-showroom, To be confirmed. See the Mahindra Vision.S page for its full variant list and our verdict.
