Where a manufacturer does not publish a numeric figure for a property — as with Garware's automotive PPF range, or gloss units for 3M and LLumar — this table says so rather than estimating one.

A Common Misconception
Is a Thicker PPF Always Better?
Thickness is the easiest PPF spec to put in an ad — a single number you can compare at a glance — which is exactly why some brands lead with it. It matters for impact absorption, but tensile strength, elongation at break, and self-healing chemistry decide protection just as much. On the comparison table above, STEK DYNOshield rates the highest elongation at 450% at 200µm; AG1 rates 397% at 192µm — both outperform any film with a higher micron count but no comparable tensile or elongation data published. Beyond roughly 200–250µm, film also gets measurably stiffer around complex curves (mirror caps, door handles, bumper creases), which is part of why XPEL, STEK and AG1 — the three brands with the most complete published tensile/elongation data here — all sit in the 192–200µm range, and why AG1 Square's premium step is to 221µm with a full spec sheet behind it, not just a bigger micron figure standing alone.
Some newer entrants in the Indian market (see “Other PPF Brands” below) now advertise tiers up to 400 microns as their headline spec, with thickness as essentially the only published number — no tensile strength, elongation, or self-healing data to go with it. A few others circulate in the Indian market: Aegis (CarzSpa's in-house film), Saint-Gobain (the French materials group's PPF line), Avery Dennison Supreme PPF (international brand, published TDS, limited India presence), BASF-backed Rodim (own India distributor), and Detailmax (Surat-based regional brand). Not necessarily. Thickness affects impact absorption, but tensile strength, elongation at break, and self-healing chemistry matter just as much — and an unusually thick film can be stiffer around complex curves, making a clean installation harder. STEK DYNOshield (200µm, 450% elongation) and AG1 (192µm, 397% elongation) both outperform thicker films with no published flexibility data. Ask any brand for its full TDS — tensile strength and elongation, not just thickness — before deciding.
Thickness alone isn't the best predictor of protection. We install AG1 (192µm), AG1 Square (221µm), XPEL Ultimate Plus (193µm), and STEK DYNOshield (200±10µm) — all backed by full published TDS data on tensile strength, elongation, gloss, and self-healing, not just a thickness number. Some newer Hyderabad-market brands now advertise film up to 400 microns in their thickest tier without publishing the same flexibility data. Per each brand's own published TDS: LLumar Platinum is tested to 2,500 hours QUV/Xenon weathering (ASTM G153/G155) with no detrimental effect, plus documented resistance to isopropyl alcohol, heptane, hexane and toluene (ASTM D7244/D6279) — the most extensively published profile in this comparison. XPEL Ultimate Plus publishes Xenon Weathering to SAE J2527 (ΔE < 1.5, 80% gloss retention) and a 30-minute chemical-immersion pass (acetone, gasoline, diesel, motor oil, Armor All). STEK DYNOshield documents 1,000 hours of Xenon Arc weathering with no change, but no separate chemical-resistance list. 3M Pro Series 200 Gloss, AG1 and Garware don't publish numeric figures here — we say so rather than guessing.
