The India PPF Technical Data Sheet Database
Material, Adhesive & Layer Construction for 6 Brands
A sourced PPF technical data sheet (TDS) database going one layer deeper than a thickness number: the film's base polymer chemistry, the adhesive type, and the per-layer clearcoat/film/adhesive/liner construction for every PPF brand Auto Grid installs — each figure traced to that brand's own published TDS document.
About This Database
What Is the India PPF TDS Database?
Our PPF brands comparison already covers the figures a buyer needs to decide: warranty, total thickness, tensile strength, elongation at break, and gloss. This database goes one layer deeper — literally. Every PPF film is a stack of distinct layers (a protective cap sheet or clearcoat, the structural urethane film itself, an adhesive layer, and a release liner removed at installation), and every manufacturer publishes that breakdown in its own technical data sheet, along with the base polymer chemistry of the film and the chemistry of the adhesive.
We built this as a standalone, citable reference — the raw TDS layer sitting underneath our buyer-facing comparison page — because almost no PPF site in India publishes material and adhesive chemistry data at all, let alone with the source document named for every figure.
Methodology
How We Sourced Every Entry
Every row below comes from that brand's own official technical data sheet or product specification document — AG1's own TDS (already published on /ag1), XPEL's Ultimate Plus TDS (document R20230428 F-09-01), STEK's DYNOshield TDS, 3M's Scotchgard Pro Series 200 Gloss TDS (Revision B — the same document already cited on our brands comparison page), Garware's Premium/Plus/Titanium product specification sheets, and Eastman/LLumar's Platinum installation & technical data guide. None of this is secondhand summary or AI-generated guesswork — each document was fetched and read directly before a single figure was written here.
Where a brand's own layer breakdown doesn't sum perfectly to this site's existing canonical total-thickness figure (manufacturers differ on whether liner and cap sheet count toward the headline number), we say so explicitly rather than quietly reconciling the two — and per our own integrity standard, we never edit an existing canonical figure based on an ambiguous secondary reading. See each brand's row below for its specific note.

Layer Construction
Per-Layer Thickness Breakdown
Each brand's own published layer stack — clearcoat/top coat, structural film, adhesive and release liner. “mil” and “µm” are reproduced exactly as each manufacturer's TDS states them.
- Film (nominal, w/o release liner)192µm (7.6 mil) ±10%

AG1 Square (premium variant): same aliphatic TPU family, 221µm total thickness, high-strength acrylic PSA — see /ag1 for the full Square spec sheet.
- Clearcoat12µm (0.50 mil)
- Polyurethane film152µm (6.0 mil)
- Acrylic adhesive28µm (1.1 mil)
- Polyester release liner76µm (3.0 mil)
- Nominal thickness w/o liner192–193µm (7.60 mil) ±10%

XPEL's own published layer breakdown sums to ~192µm; XPEL's headline nominal-thickness figure (193µm, already canonical on this site) is within the same ±10% tolerance band — both are the same TDS family, not a contradiction.

Garware's own per-layer mil breakdown is published across its Premium/Plus/Titanium product sheets; it is not simply additive to the site's existing canonical 175–195µm total-thickness figure (manufacturers' total-thickness and layer-sum conventions differ on liner/cap-sheet inclusion) — per Hard Rule 5, the canonical 175–195µm figure is left unchanged here, only the material/adhesive chemistry (new fields) are added.
- Masking sheet2 mil (removable protective polyester film)
- Clear coat (HydroGard hydrophobic, self-healing)0.26 mil (6.5µm)
- Urethane film6.0 mil (152.4µm)
- Self-crosslinking acrylic adhesive1.2 mil (30.5µm)
- Matte polyester release liner3.5 mil (88.9µm)
- Product thickness (total, Platinum tier)7.5 mil (189.4µm)
Source: LLumar® Platinum Paint Protection Film — Installation & Technical Data Guide (Eastman Performance Films, LLC)
Platinum's own 189.4µm figure sits inside the site's existing canonical 178–203µm LLumar range (which covers Gloss/Matte through Valor) — not a change to that range.
Why It Matters
What Material & Adhesive Chemistry Actually Change
Almost every PPF brand sold in India describes its film as a “TPU” (thermoplastic polyurethane) — but that single word covers real formulation differences. Aliphatic TPU (used by AG1, XPEL, STEK and Garware per their own TDS wording) resists UV-driven yellowing far better than aromaticTPU or PVC-based films, because the aliphatic chemical structure doesn't absorb UV in the same way. This matters specifically in Indian conditions: Hyderabad's UV index runs 10–11 for most of the year, and a film that yellows under sustained sun exposure defeats the point of installing it.
Adhesive chemistry changes a different outcome: how cleanly the film installs and removes. Every brand here publishes an acrylic-chemistry pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA), but the exact formulation — a “high-performance” acrylic PSA versus a “self-crosslinking acrylic copolymer” versus a “pressure-activated” acrylic PSA — affects how repositionable the film is during installation and how resistant it is to yellowing and residue at removal years later. This is also why Auto Grid's own installers care which brand's adhesive is going on a given car, not just which brand has the longest warranty.
None of this changes the brand recommendation on our full comparison page — it explains the chemistry underneath it. For the buyer-facing decision (which brand for which car), start there; use this page when you want the primary-source material and adhesive data behind that recommendation.

FAQs
PPF TDS Database — Common Questions
A technical data sheet (TDS) is a manufacturer's own official document describing a product's physical and chemical properties — for PPF, that means film material (the base polymer chemistry), adhesive type, per-layer thickness, tensile strength, elongation, gloss and weathering/chemical-resistance data. It is the primary source every genuine PPF spec claim should trace back to, rather than a reseller's marketing copy.
Thickness alone doesn't tell you how a film behaves over years of Indian heat, monsoon humidity and UV exposure. The base polymer (aliphatic TPU resists yellowing far better than aromatic TPU or PVC) and the adhesive chemistry (acrylic PSA formulations vary in how well they resist lift lines, yellowing and delamination) are what actually determine long-term clarity and adhesion — see our full /ppf-brands-comparison-india for why thickness alone is a weak predictor of protection.
PSA (pressure-sensitive adhesive) is the adhesive layer that bonds PPF to paint on contact, without a separate curing step. Every brand in this database publishes an acrylic-chemistry PSA, but the exact formulation differs: XPEL and STEK both specify a high-performance acrylic PSA optimised for removability without residue; 3M's Scotchgard Pro Series specifies a pressure-activated acrylic PSA; LLumar's Platinum tier uses a self-crosslinking acrylic copolymer adhesive, a specific formulation aimed at balanced tack and cohesion. These are meaningful formulation differences, not interchangeable marketing terms.
/ppf-brands-comparison-india is the buyer-facing comparison: warranty, total thickness, tensile strength, elongation, gloss and which brand suits which car. This page is the underlying material layer — each brand broken into its own published clearcoat, film, adhesive and release-liner thicknesses, with the base polymer and adhesive chemistry named and the source TDS document cited. Nothing here contradicts the comparison page; it is a deeper, more granular dataset sitting underneath it.

Auto Grid's Kondapur studio in Hyderabad is a certified installer for XPEL, STEK and AG1, and can source Garware and LLumar on request. We are one of the few studios in India that can speak to all six brands' own published technical data rather than just one manufacturer's talking points, because we install more than one.
