Who Is This Review For?
Auto Grid installs STEK DYNOshield every week at our Kondapur studio. We are a certified STEK installer in Hyderabad. We also install XPEL, AG1, LLumar, and GARWARE. This review is from a studio that works with every major PPF brand — not a brand ambassador piece.
What STEK DYNOshield Does Better Than Any Other PPF
STEK DYNOshield has one clear category lead over every competing film: gloss depth.
The wet-look finish on DYNOshield is deeper and richer than XPEL Ultimate Plus, AG1, or 3M Scotchgard. On black, dark grey, navy, and deep metallic finishes, STEK DYNOshield makes the paint look like it is perpetually wet. This is the primary reason performance car owners — particularly those with sports cars, JDM imports, and luxury SUVs in dark colours — choose STEK over other brands.
The second differentiator is the ceramic-infused top coat. Unlike XPEL Ultimate Plus (where a ceramic coating must be added separately to get hydrophobic performance), STEK DYNOshield includes a ceramic layer built into the film. This means water, bird drops, and road film bead off aggressively without any additional treatment. In Hyderabad's monsoon season, this built-in hydrophobicity is a real practical advantage.
STEK DYNOshield Technical Specs
- Film type: Self-healing thermoplastic urethane (TPU)
- Top coat: Ceramic-infused hydrophobic layer — built in
- Self-healing: Yes — minor swirl marks and light scratches recover with heat
- Warranty: 7 years (yellowing, cracking, peeling, bubbling, delamination)
- Certification: SGS certified — independent third-party validation
- Finish: Deep gloss (DYNOshield) or satin/matte (DYNOmatte)
- Installation: Computer-plotted templates — no hand-trimming on vehicle
How STEK Performs in Hyderabad's Climate
UV resistance: Strong. STEK DYNOshield has built-in UV inhibitors that prevent yellowing. In Hyderabad's UV index 10–11 environment (March to October), the film maintains clarity without the discolouration seen on older or lower-quality films.
Monsoon performance: Good. The ceramic top coat is hydrophobic — water beads and sheds quickly during monsoon driving, reducing water mark formation. The adhesive, however, was not specifically designed for India's wet-dry cycling profile. Over multiple monsoon seasons, we observe marginally better edge retention on AG1 compared to STEK on the same car types — because AG1's adhesive chemistry was specifically formulated for Indian humidity cycling. This is not a disqualifying issue — STEK performs well — but it is a real observation from our installation bay.
Heat performance: Excellent. STEK's self-healing activates reliably in Hyderabad summer temperatures. Swirl marks from automated car washes disappear when the car is parked in sunlight — a meaningful practical benefit for daily drivers.

STEK DYNOshield vs AG1 PPF
AG1 PPF is Auto Grid's proprietary film, developed with BITS Pilani, Hyderabad campus. It is the only PPF specifically engineered for Indian roads and climate. Comparing STEK vs AG1:
- Warranty: AG1: 8 years, AG1 Square: 12 years. STEK: 7 years. AG1 wins.
- Monsoon adhesion: AG1 specifically formulated for Indian wet-dry cycles. STEK is a Western formula. AG1 wins for edge retention.
- Gloss: STEK DYNOshield has a deeper wet-look gloss on dark finishes. For owners where visual richness is the top priority, STEK wins.
- Hydrophobic coat: STEK ceramic coat is built in. AG1 hydrophobic coat is optional (add-on). STEK wins if you want it standard.
- Value: AG1 is more accessible in cost. STEK is priced at the premium end.
Who Should Choose STEK DYNOshield
STEK DYNOshield is the right choice when:
- The car is a performance vehicle or sports car in a dark colour (black, midnight blue, dark grey, deep red)
- Visual gloss depth is the top priority alongside protection
- You want built-in ceramic hydrophobics without a separate ceramic coating appointment
- You want SGS-certified independent product validation
STEK DYNOshield is not the first choice when:
- The car is a daily driver where AG1's Indian-climate formulation and better value make more practical sense
- Maximum warranty length is the priority (AG1 Square at 12 years outranks STEK's 7 years)
- The car is in a light colour (white, silver, beige) where STEK's gloss advantage is less visible
STEK DYNOmatte — The Satin Finish Option
For owners who want a satin or matte appearance, STEK DYNOmatte applies to a gloss car and converts the finish to a smooth matte surface while providing the same PPF protection. Same 7-year warranty. Popular on black and dark grey vehicles. This is a good alternative to a full matte vinyl wrap — it protects the original paint, is fully reversible, and maintains the matte look for 7 years with warranty coverage.
