MG Majestor gets its second price hike in three months — now up to ₹2.5 lakh dearer than at launch

JSW MG Motor India has raised Majestor prices by ₹1 lakh across all three variants from November 2026 — its second hike since the flagship SUV's May launch, taking the base price to ₹43.49 lakh.

By Auto Grid Editorial

JSW MG Motor India has raised prices on its flagship Majestor SUV for the second time in three months. Effective November 2026, all three variants of the Majestor go up by ₹1 lakh each, taking the starting ex-showroom price to ₹43.49 lakh and the range-topping 4x4 variant to ₹45.99 lakh — confirmed on MG Motor India's own Majestor price page.

What happened

The Majestor, which MG markets as India's first "D+" full-size SUV and which replaced the Gloster as the brand's flagship, launched on 27 May 2026 at ₹40.99 lakh for the Savvy 4x2 (available in six- and seven-seat layouts) and ₹44.99 lakh for the Savvy 4x4, per MG's own launch press release. It got its first price revision in August 2026 — a ₹1.5 lakh increase applied only to the two 4x2 variants, which left the 4x4 untouched at ₹44.99 lakh and closed most of the price gap between the drivetrains. This second revision, effective from November 2026 and reported by Rushlane on 31 October ahead of MG updating its own site, applies evenly: ₹1 lakh more on each of the three variants, with no change to features, engine or equipment mentioned in either revision.

The net effect since launch: the Savvy 4x2 6-seater and 7-seater, both of which started at ₹40.99 lakh in May, now cost ₹43.49 lakh — a cumulative ₹2.5 lakh increase in under six months. The Savvy 4x4 7-seater, unaffected by the August hike, has gone up a comparatively smaller ₹1 lakh overall, from ₹44.99 lakh to ₹45.99 lakh, meaning the gap between the entry 4x2 and the range-topping 4x4 is now just ₹2.5 lakh rather than the ₹4 lakh MG set at launch. The Majestor's mechanical package — a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel producing 215.5 PS and 478.5 Nm paired with an 8-speed automatic, Level 2 ADAS, a panoramic sunroof and (on the 4x4) a triple-differential lock — is unchanged across both revisions.

What it means for an Indian buyer

If you're shopping in this full-size SUV segment — where the Majestor competes against the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tayron — two price hikes inside six months is a meaningful data point on where MG expects this car to be positioned long-term, not just a one-off adjustment. A buyer who was quoted ₹40.99 lakh or ₹42.49 lakh by a dealer some weeks ago should re-confirm the current on-road figure before finalising anything; MG's booking amount remains a refundable ₹41,000, so a fresh booking at the new price carries no extra risk beyond the higher sticker figure itself.

For anyone who booked before this November revision and hasn't yet taken delivery, the detail worth chasing down is whether your specific dealership is honouring the old price. Industry-standard practice — the same rule that applied to Hyundai's and Skoda's recent price revisions — is that the ex-showroom price in force on the delivery date applies unless full payment was made before the hike, though some dealers extend price protection to earlier bookings at their discretion. Given the Majestor has now moved twice in the same direction with no equipment changes either time, a further revision before this financial year ends is not something to rule out.

The Auto Grid angle

A ₹43.49-45.99 lakh full-size diesel SUV, built for the kind of long highway runs and occasional off-road use its 4WD and triple-diff-lock variant are engineered for, is exactly the car where a chipped bonnet or scuffed bumper on a stone-strewn ghat road stings the most — both on the repair bill and on resale value in a segment where buyers scrutinise paint condition closely. At this price point, PPF on the front end and high-wear panels before the first long drive is a sensible first move, not an afterthought reserved for when the first chip shows up.

What's next

MG has not indicated whether a further revision is planned, and no change to the Majestor's Sharp trim — announced at unveiling but still not brought to market nearly six months after launch — has been confirmed either. We'll track MG's own price page for any further movement and note it here if the Majestor's price changes again before its next scheduled update.

Questions on this story

From November 2026, the MG Majestor starts at ₹43.49 lakh ex-showroom for both Savvy 4x2 variants (6-seater and 7-seater), rising to ₹45.99 lakh for the Savvy 4x4 7-seater — each ₹1 lakh more than before this revision, per MG Motor India's own price page.

The Majestor launched in May 2026 at ₹40.99 lakh for the 4x2 variants and ₹44.99 lakh for the 4x4. Two revisions since then — ₹1.5 lakh in August 2026 (4x2 variants only) and ₹1 lakh in November 2026 (all three variants) — have taken the base price up by a combined ₹2.5 lakh and the 4x4's price up by ₹1 lakh.

MG Motor India has not published a stated reason for either revision. The August hike applied only to the 4x2 variants, closing most of the gap to the unchanged 4x4; the November hike applies evenly across all three variants. Neither release mentions a change in features, engine or equipment, so both read as commercial price corrections rather than product updates.

Standard industry practice — and the one most manufacturers, including MG, have applied in other recent price revisions — is that the ex-showroom price in force on the day of delivery applies unless the full amount was paid before the revision. If you booked a Majestor before November 2026 and haven't taken delivery yet, confirm directly with your MG dealer whether any price-protection is being offered on your specific booking.
