Hyundai Motor India posts its best-ever month: 82,299 units sold in October 2026, Venue's biggest month yet
Hyundai Motor India reported record total sales of 82,299 units in October 2026 (up 17.7% YoY), with domestic dispatches hitting an all-time high of 62,799 units and the Venue posting its best-ever month at 13,017 units.

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) closed October 2026 with the best month in the company's history: 82,299 units sold across domestic and export markets, a 17.7% year-on-year increase and the highest total the company has ever reported for a single month. Domestic dispatches — the number that most directly reflects what's moving through Indian showrooms — hit a record 62,799 units, up 16.7% over October 2025, while exports rose 21.1% to 19,500 units.
What happened
HMIL announced the figures through an official filing to the National Stock Exchange on 1 November, a day after the month closed. The release frames October 2026 as a clean sweep of company records: highest-ever total monthly sales, highest-ever domestic monthly sales, and — within the domestic number — the Venue compact SUV's best-ever month, with 13,017 units delivered to Indian buyers. On a month-on-month basis, the growth is just as sharp: domestic sales rose 9.85% over September's 57,166 units, and total sales were up 5.62% over September's 77,916 units, pointing to a genuine festive-season acceleration rather than a slow, steady climb.
Tarun Garg, HMIL's Managing Director and CEO, attributed the month to "strong festive demand, coupled with healthy momentum in both domestic and export markets," and specifically called out the recently launched Hyundai Bayon — the sub-compact "Intelligent Utility Vehicle" that went on sale on 26 October at a starting ex-showroom price of ₹9.99 lakh — as a model he expects to add further momentum to both India sales and Hyundai's export business, which now spans more than 50 markets. The export growth itself is notable in its own right: HMIL's Chennai plant has increasingly positioned India as a manufacturing and export hub rather than a purely domestic-focused operation, and a 21.1% jump in a single month, against a domestic growth rate that is itself strong, suggests that trend is accelerating rather than levelling off.
The Venue's record month is worth pulling out on its own. It's a five-year-old nameplate competing in one of the most contested segments in the Indian market — against the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Kia Sonet and Mahindra XUV 3XO, among others — and a best-ever month for a car at that stage of its life cycle, during the same festive window Hyundai also launched a brand-new nameplate in the Bayon, says more about sustained demand for small, value-priced SUVs in India than it does about any single product refresh.
What it means for an Indian buyer
For someone shopping a Hyundai right now, the practical takeaway is about timing and availability rather than price. A record domestic month, driven substantially by one high-volume model, typically means that model's most popular variants and colours are moving fastest through dealer allotments — exactly the kind of month where a buyer who assumes stock is freely available can find their chosen configuration pushed into a longer queue than they expected. If the Venue or the newly launched Bayon is on your shortlist this Diwali season, it's worth asking your dealer for a written delivery commitment on the specific variant, colour and transmission you want, rather than booking on the strength of a verbal "should be quick."
The flip side of a record month driven partly by festive discounting and a new launch is that it doesn't, by itself, signal a price change in either direction. Hyundai's own Q2 FY27 earnings call (reported in late October) flagged that a price hike could be pulled forward from its already-scheduled January 2027 slot if raw-material costs stay elevated — a separate commercial decision from this sales announcement, which is purely a volume and manufacturing-performance update. Buyers weighing whether to book now or wait should treat the two pieces of news independently: strong festive sales don't by themselves make a near-term price cut or hike any more or less likely.
The Auto Grid angle
A record month for a handful of models means a disproportionate number of brand-new Venues and Bayons are arriving in Indian driveways in the same few weeks — straight from the carrier truck, with zero paint curing time and a first drive home that, for many buyers, happens during the most traffic-dense, stone-chip-heavy weeks of the year around Diwali. A car delivered in a festive-season sales surge is exactly the kind of car that benefits most from PPF applied before the first real-world drive, rather than after the first chip appears on the bonnet or front bumper — the damage that prompts most owners to start looking into paint protection happens in the car's first few hundred kilometres, not its first few years.
What's next
Hyundai's statement does not mention a specific sales target or guidance for November, and no new model launch beyond the already-announced Bayon was referenced. We'll track whether October's festive-driven volume holds into November as Diwali (8 November this year) approaches, and update this story if Hyundai or its rivals report a comparable swing in next month's numbers.

Questions on this story
Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) sold 62,799 units domestically in October 2026 — its highest-ever monthly domestic sales, up 16.7% year-on-year. Including 19,500 exported units (up 21.1% YoY), total sales for the month came to 82,299 units, also a company record, up 17.7% YoY.
The Venue compact SUV had its best month ever, with 13,017 units sold domestically in October 2026, making it Hyundai India's top-selling model for the month. Hyundai's own statement credits festive-season demand and the newly launched Bayon for adding further momentum to the line-up.
It can, for the models driving the volume. A sharp month-on-month jump in dispatches (domestic sales rose 9.85% over September 2026) usually means dealers are working through festive-season bookings, so a popular variant or colour on a high-demand model like the Venue is more likely to have a stretched delivery slot right now than a quieter nameplate. Confirm a firm delivery date in writing before booking, rather than assuming stock is open.
This release is about sales volume, not pricing, and makes no mention of a price change. Hyundai's management has separately flagged in its Q2 FY27 results call that a price hike could be considered before the already-planned January 2027 revision if input costs stay high — a separate matter from this month's sales record.
